Player of the Game - What's your opinion?
Alright - let me set this up: Red Sox playing the Mariners in Seattle, Chris Sale goes 8 innings, 3ER, 13K, 0BB, and leaves the game with the lead, 4-3 (I'm managing Boston).
In the B9, Seattle loads the bases with 1 out (and the AI, who is managing Seattle) put in Jay Bruce (a lefty) to pinch hit. At the time, I had my closer in the game (who was a righty), so I countered by bringing in a pretty stout lefty - can't recall his name), and Bruce hits a grand slam to walk off the game - Seattle wins 7-4. OK, the point of all this is the game named Chris Sale as the POTG. Now, while I do agree he pitched a whale of a game, (1) the Red Sox lost,(however, Sale got a no-decision) (2) Jay Bruce came in off the bench and hit a pinch hit GS to win it in the B9! How clutch is that? So, in my opinion, Bruce deserves POTG award, because his contribution actually WON the game. Several things. What is the communities opinion of how POTG is assigned, do you agree with Chris Sale in this scenario being credited with POTG, and finally can users manually edit POTG awards? Look forward to your responses,, Steve |

As part of the community, I don't really care who the media gives "player of the game" too. It isn't anything official from MLB.

I would have made Bruce player of the game. I do not think you can manually override the AI decision though.

They are also quite redundant and written in a stuffy, stilted style... they don't sound like they were written by a sportswriter, but an English professor, who has never attended a baseball game or read the sports page in his life. And one more thing... the Game Headlines are much too long... they should short, sweet and precise... not in complete sentences and high-sounding vocabulary. I have commented on the game recaps from day one... and offered my services... but was turned down. But I don't blame them... I was a very picky Beta Team member for 3, 4, 5 years... Markus probably got tired of my complaints about the News Stories, PBP and the Hard Code... I can be a pest and persistent. Last edited by Eugene Church; 03-24-2019 at 01:44 PM. |
