Nelson singled with one out in the top of the seventh to end the perfect game bid. It extended Nelson's hit streak to 11 games. Nelson went on to score on a Mincher single. Billings added his own run-scoring single. Harrah then brought Mincher home with a single.

In the top of the eighth, Nelson hit a solo home run.

Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth. Munson hit a three-run homer.

The Yankees pounded out 11 hits in the win.

In the bottom of the first, Harper scored when Maddox misplayed a fly ball by Munson. Clarke followed with an RBI single. Alou was next and he hit a run-scoring double. All threeruns were unearned.

In the top of the third, Nelson extended his hit streak to 12 games with a two-run single. A couple of walks later and bases were loaded with two out. Harrah grounded to second to retire the side.

In the bottom of the fourth, Harper cashed in a leadoff triple, scoring on a White groundout to short. The Yankees loadedthe bases with one out. Clarke went down on strikes for the second out. Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers. Alou singled to plate a pair.

In the top of the sixth, Kubiak hit a two-run triple.

Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth.

Maddox led off the top of the seventh with a home run. Jack Aker replaced Medich on the mound for the Yankees. A throwing error by Michael on a Harrah grounder allowed Wynn to score the tying run.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Yankees regained the lead on a run-scoring single by White.

Sparky Lyle took the mound for the Yankees in the top of the eighth.

Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth.

Maddox led off the top of the ninth with a home run and the game was tied again.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth and got the Yankees in order.
