Cool Union League Baseball 2017 Openings!

TL,DR:The Phoenix Fire and Los Angeles Stars are open in the ULB.

Started nearly 6 years ago (1995 in game) the ULB is a second Major League competing with the MLB, though both leagues played a one game Championship this past season with the World Series Champion Detroit Tigers defeating the Union Cup Champion New York Kings in the Inaugural Doubleday Classic.

Recently switching from OOTP16, the ULB finds itself with two open teams.

The Phoenix Fire went 81-81 and finished 3rd in their Division last season. They are on the verge of competing and have pieces to build around and some good veterans. Their farm system ranks 4th in the ULB, with some top prospects ready to join the bigs this upcoming season. They held their own for most of the 2016 season before fading down the stretch. They were eliminated from the 2nd Wild Card race with just 7 games left. Perhaps with less injuries and a few savvy moves, they could have gained that final spot or even taken the division.

The Los Angeles Stars finished 77-85 and placed 3rd in their division. Recently parting ways with former staff ace Wade Townsend, the Stars and looking to enter a new era. They have a very good pitching staff to build around, even with losing Townsend to free agency. Theuir new ace, Manuel Rivas, was the 2016 FL Nolan Ryan Award winner, and they also have Madison Bumgarner coming back after an injury. Also Jameson Taillon and Tommy Hanson are pretty damn good too. Offensively, they are somewhat lacking. They have few prospects in their system, ranking 14th out of 20 in the ULB. They'll be a good team to pick if you don't mind a bit of a challenge.

When not in the offseason, the ULB sims Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Sims are 7 days each. All Playoff games are broadcast live. We use StatsLab and have a Slack channel for all team based communication. PM me here if you would like to join the league.

THE ULB has two openings for 2018 available. The New Mexico Suns and San Juan Storm are both open and looking for their next GM.

The San Juan Storm went 69-93 in 2017 and finished 3rd in the Federal League Eastern Division. Led By 37 year old Mark Teixeira who's chasing HR #500, the Storm look to be entering a rebuilding phase of the franchise. While the Storm are a small market club, they have a great fan base, and a new TV Contract will give them a bit more money to work with. The Storm are unfortunately dead last in terms of the Farm System rankings, with C Chris Okey being the only Storm prospect in the top 100.

The New Mexico Suns are another club with rebuilding in their future. They finished in the basement of the Federal League Western Division at 65-97. They have a lot of money tied up this upcoming season, but will drop approx $40 mil in payroll for 2019, with another $24 mil tied up for 3 years in SP Jesus Herrera, who could be a potential trade piece. The Suns currently rank 4th in the Top Systems list, and have a good crop of players making their way to the ULB.

If you are interested in either franchise, please PM me with your email and name.

New Mexico has been filled, leaving the San Juan Storm as our only current opening!

We're looking for a New Mexico and a Storm GM. We play in a fictional league, sim M/W/F/Sunday, draft is online, we use slack, we have live sims for the playoffs (my favourite thing in the league), so you can see in real time how your team does. It's a great league. The best league, ever. We're trying to make OOTP great again!
