There were two outs! I'm still furious! And I'm the Mariners!

It's funny because I'm right there with you. This game actually messes with my emotions because I become so invested and addicted. Blow one game as a reliever and you're on my bad side (kind of the knee-jerk reaction of a typical fan in real life).

Not so much a funny screen but something that had me laughing for real.

So, I spend Beta having a look around the game, trying a few things out and start up my first league which in memory of my first game on Season Ticket Baseball I'm starting with Montreal in 2001. I'm not sure how I'm going to re sign Vlad who is in his final year and would like a $19m salary if you don't mind. A bit tough to fit into a $32.5m wage budget next season but I digress.

I meandered through spring training during the beta and decided to take it steady and start opening day with the official release version. Just played my last spring training game, finalised my rosters and saw Toronto beat Texas 5-4 on opening day.

Decided to make the most of my opening game day by following the real time simulation. Clicked and got things underway and scrolled down

Postponed - After all that build up

I think the baseball world would literally explode if this World Series matchup happened.

Cubs won the Series in 5

Can't help but notice Herrera is so good his potential rating can't keep up.

I'm not sure. it says his heal status is OK and injury history is normal.

Now that'd be cool if you could be stuff like that into a contract such as no dangerous activities.

I want to know what hellish contract defines skipping stones as a "activity beyond acceptable levels of risk".

For particular pitchers, I can envision this being an inclusion.

The 20s were slightly insane for offenses. IRL Archdeacon hit .319 with a .410 OBP in his only full year in the majors (he had cups of coffee in two others), which added up to all of 1.1 WAR In about half a season's worth of play.

In my alternate universe (complete with most foreign leagues and an MLB with fictional players), my first year was incredibly chaotic. As the (very) hands-off commissioner, it seemed like GMs were going nuts: cutting and signing and swapping in an orgy of transactions and trades - many seemingly just for the pleasure of making a deal.

I've been stopping the simulation every few weeks to look things over and enjoy the progression of a fully functioning league and all its statistics. Yesterday, while perusing the League Leaders in my infant league, something caught my eye.

A gentleman playing for the NY Yankees named Ken Black was selected in the 4th round of the inaugural draft. He'd had an absolutely gonzo first month, receiving two Player of the Week awards and winning the Player of the Month for the AL, rounding out that first month with a .335/.395/.656 line with 19 HRs.

A few in-game weeks later, I checked to see if he'd kept up his torrid pace in the League Leaders for Home Runs category, it appeared as though there was a weird glitch happening: Ken Black had been randomly assigned to a random foreign team.

Of course, when I investigated, I discovered that the Yankees had traded their red-hot, home run-mashing 1st Baseman to the Hokkaido Ham Fighters for a so-so 3-star Shortstop named Masaki Yoshimura and a 2-star reliever named Hirose. To make it even worse, they tossed in a few extra million dollars to sweeten the pot for the oh-so-lucky Ham Fighters.

Masaki Yoshimura blew out his knee or elbow (I like to think he was injured out of shame) a couple replacement-level months later, while Hirose played 3 innings, got in a fight for which he was suspended 4 games, and was ultimately sent down to the minors, where he toiled the rest of his miserable career.

Meanwhile, Ken Black continued mashing around the world. He returned home to the Majors, finding a home at Toronto, where he continues to make the Yankees pay for one of the most ill-conceived trades I've ever seen.
