Amendment to first post

By the way, Daniel Murphy is hitting .365 for Colorado, Giancarlo Stanton 34 HR for the Yanks, Rafael Devers 81 RBI for Boston.

And on the mound Patrick Corbin a sharp 1.86 ERA for the Nationals, Kenta Maeda is 15-1 for the Dodgers, & Aroldis Chapman has 24 saves for the Yankees but is out 2 weeks with a strained oblique muscle.

I like to laugh

Murphy's still going strong at .358. Maeda is already 21-2. Brad Hand has 35 saves. Well, that's beautiful.

OK, the regular season is over:

The NL Wild Cards: New York Mets (93-69), Colorado Rockies (96-66).

The AL Wild Cards: Boston Red Sox (93-69), Tampa Bay Rays (91-71).

The NL Division winners:
East: Washington Nationals (100-62)
Central: St. Louis Cardinals (83-78)
West: LA Dodgers (97-65)

The AL Division winners:
East: New York Yankees (101-61)

I finished up the regular season sim just now, this morning...so I'll think about any other info or color to include before I start the playoffs bit.

Vs. Actual 2019

I guess 1st regular season in review post I'll do is this sim vs. the actual 2019 season for each team:

(AMERICAN LEAGUE FIRST)

New York Yankees 2 GB their actual record
Red Sox 9 more wins than their actual record
Tampa Bay Rays 5 GB their actual record
Toronto Blue Jays finished with same as real life record
Baltimore Orioles finished 1 game better than their actual record

AL Central (Entire division: +18 wins vs. actual)

Cleveland Indians 11 more wins in the simulation
KC Royals 22 more wins in the simulation (+21.5)
Minnesota Twins 24 GB their actual record
Chi. White Sox 3 GB their actual record
Detroit Tigers 13 more wins than their actual record (+12.5)

AL West (Entire division: -10 wins vs. actual)

Houston Astros 15 GB their actual technologically enhanced? record, lol
Oakland Athletics 10 GB their actual record
Texas Rangers 8 GB their actual record

...and the National League sim vs. RL results

NL East (-1 vs. actual)

Braves finished 17 GB their real-life record
Mets finished with 7 more wins in the simulation
Nationals finished with 7 more wins in the simulation
Phillies finished with 6 more wins in the simulation
Miami Marlins finished 4 GB their real-life record

NL Central (-21 vs. actual)

St. Louis Cardinals finished 7 GB their actual record
Pirates finished 12 games better than their actual record
Chi. Cubs finished 5 GB of their actual record
Milwaukee Brewers finished 13 GB their actual record
Cincinnati Reds finished 8 GB their actual record

NL West (+11 vs. actual)

LA Dodgers finished 9 GB their actual record
Colorado Rockies finish 25 games better than their actual record
D'Backs finished 4 GB of their actual record
Padres finish 10 games better than their actual record

I'm not sure if I made any calculation errors but I think the sim vs. real records in the last 2 posts are accurate...I will include the standings with this one from the sim...

I noticed a 1 game discrepancy... KC was actually 21.5 games better in the sim as they did not play a game against the Tigers I guess who were actually technically +12.5 games in the sim.

AL Wild Card Game

Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox

Rays win it in 11 innings, 6-5 setting up for the Divisional Series:

NL
Nationals vs. Rockies
Cardinals vs. Dodgers

AL
Indians vs. Rays
Astros vs. New York Yankees

6 out of the 8 teams that made the DS made it in the simulation but the match-ups are ALL different. The Indians & the Rockies will have a chance to make it to their LCS.

World Series Match-up would have been...

The Tampa Bay Rays vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the first 2 games at Dodger Stadium...

Sounds better than what transpired to me personally.

2019 Virtual World Series Games 1-4

7-5 Rays
3-1 Dodgers
2-1 Dodgers
4-3 Rays

The series is tied 2-2 after 4 games and the games have been very entertaining...

Game 1: The Dodgers went into the late innings with a 5-1 lead. The Rays strung together hit after hit after hit after hit in a top of the 9th rally to take a stunning 7-5 lead & they held onto it for the game 1 win.

Game 2: 25-game winner Kenta Maeda leads the Dodgers to a game 2 victory (3-1) & the series back into a tie.

Game 3: 2-1, Dodgers. The Dodgers scored all the runs they would need in the top of the 1st inning off of Rays' starter Tyler Glasnow. The Rays were able to plate one of their own but that's it.

Game 4: Dodgers go up 1-0 in the top of the 4th...but 2nd baseman Brandon Lowe hits a grand slam in the bottom of the 5th off of Hyun-jin Ryu...despite Cody Bellinger's 7th HR of the postseason in the 8th inning, the Rays hold on to win 4-3.

Game 5

Honeywell comes through with a 4-hit pitching performance for TB in game 5 and the series returns to LA with Tampa leading 3-2.

A 460 foot home run to dead center by Joey Wendle was about all the offense the Rays needed in the final game at the Tropicana Dome. Rays 4, Dodgers 2 F

Game 6

The Rays strike early, taking a 3-0 lead.
The Dodgers answered in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 3 runs of their own, big double by Corey Seager, single for Cody Bellinger. 3-3.

Come the bottom of the 6th, Chris Taylor is up at bat with Joc Pederson on 2nd base. Taylor triples and Austin Barnes follows with a sac fly. The score is 5-3, Dodgers going into the top of the 7th.

A double by Dodgers' CF A.J. Pollock in the bottom of the 7th scores 2 runs and the Dodgers take a commanding 7-3 lead with only 2 innings left for the Rays to mount a Game one-like rally.

Austin Meadows & Brandon Lowe get Rays' fans hopes up in the top of the 8th inning with a pair of SOLO Home Runs, the score now 7-5, Dodgers.

After a scoreless bottom of the 8th for the Dodgers, Kenley Jansen comes on in the top of the 9th and the Rays go quietly. Jansen gets a save in 1-2-3 fashion striking out 2 batters & Maeda moves to 5-0 in the postseason as the Dodgers win & tie the series at 3 games apiece.
-------
I'm not going to finish the sim tonight.
I'll tentatively schedule Game 7 for tomorrow at 9 PM ET. The chances of it being simmed then are probably 50/50 but I think it deserves some space & not to be simmed at 3 in the morning anyway.

So my 2019 Virtual World Series Champ will be either the Dodgers or the Rays, decided most likely tomorrow night...I'll post an update on that, & then on any other awards or statistics from the season I haven't got to. It could be minimal or I could fill in many details over whatever time I have.

The Dodgers Win!

Tampa Bay Rays 5, LA Dodgers 7 in Game 7 at Dodgers Stadium. How did Los Angeles react to this? because I don't know.
