Pitching issues
I've been playing OOTP since day one and I've always had two problems with the game: 1) too many walks - far too many and 2) relief pitchers, especially closers, are ****e!
Am I the only one? |

Short answer: Use League Total Modifiers to adjust stats.. check out manual.. read below for a bit of minutiea if you want.
------------------------------------------ as much as the previous post helped... check out stats and AI settings... not much you can do reliably mid-season... but you can change a modifier for walks to reduce walks... you'll just have no really good idea by how much is necessary based on small sample, even if it is "high". so, take baby steps, or wait until next opening day... before ANY game is played, click "autocalculate modifiers", it's a button on Stats & AI settings page. it's not somethign you want to do each year... BUT, after you click it, you have a really good idea of basline for each modifier... you can intuitively increase them through these modifiers. want 10% less BB, reduce BB LTM by 10%... so if it's currenty .850, you reduce it by .085. etc. do not change league totals, unless you also adjust all the others that matter... e.g. babip is influenced by HR. change hr total and you better adjust BABIP appropriately. i have a spreadsheet in forums that helps with League Totals and making a new set.. it will calculate babip as you change other things, for example... just don't type over any "=forumula" cell. a recent post has it... google to find it is best. so at least 2 threads have it attached. it's not neccessary, though. you can accomplish all that you want with the Modifiers... leave th totals alone unless extremely different than what you want... you can even import them from various historical years too. (totals)... th emodifiers need to be autocalculated anytime you change totals if you want them to be fucntional and relevant to output. |

I'm been playing my EBL vs MLB on OOTP since v 11, 13 in its current form. I use historical modifiers and while I have had a few weird seasons for the most part in the 26 seasons I've played they are in line with MLB from 1973-1999. Same with my ABF which goes from 1876 -2001.
