Active Players seem to lose

I own Trevor Story, he was a Fly ball guy when I bought him. Now he's just a normal. Is this supposed to happen?

Same thing happened to Matt Carpenter. I am pretty sure that Tulo I keep seeing up for auction is the same

Yeah, I think this is a bit bugged right now, as is arm slots for pitchers. We're aware of it and it's on the list of things to work on.

Cool. It's pretty prevalent I do believe.

Now it seems to be effecting Jose Ramirez.

I'm unaware of a way to clear a "cache". To be honest that probably won't fix an issue with the servers making adjustments to players in terms of their hitter type and pitcher arm slots. That's something the devs are going to need to iron out with the coding and the server AI.

No worries andydct, sorry I don't have a better answer than that right now. It's just one of many things we support people are throwing at the devs to fix.

In my opinion, anyone with gb ratio under 1 should be FLY BALL or LINE DRIVE. Betts is in the top 12 lowest in the league he should be either Line Drive or Fly Ball.

This is still a huge issue.

Jose Ramirez (.75 gb to fb ) shows normal.
Betts (.75 gb/fb) is Normal.
Muncy (.76) is normal too.

This is still an issue. It's not just live players either.

My second team, sees all the players perfectly.

It is very hard to participate in the market if you see one thing and everyone else sees something else.

It appears that players may slightly shift their tendencies from year to year, or from when you buy them in the auction house. Of note, this does not actually have a major difference for players, since the batted ball profile is actually much more complex under the covers.

Basically, for each player we calculate a modifier to FB/LD/GB (well, we actually calculate FB and LD, and then infer GB rate from that). The type displayed is simply based on some cutoff points. So, for example, if the FB and LD ratios are under 100, the player may display as a groundball player. However, as I mentioned, it ends up getting recalculated in every league, so if given some league factors, the player's FB tendency rises to, say, 101, then maybe he'll get listed as a "normal" tendency now. So under the covers, his rating may only have changed from 99 to 101, but it will display differently.

For next year, we'll make more sure that these ratios don't change year to year in PT and that batting profiles will stay consistent. But for now, I would not worry too much if a player ends up shifting back and forth between seasons - all that it really means is that his tendency is likely right on the border between displaying the two values.

Will the card actually perform slightly differently because of this or is it just a descriptive rating?

Well, if their profile shifts, that means that their batted ball distribution will shift. But as I mentioned, in reality, if a player is shifting between FB type and LD type depending on the season, then it's only going to be a few batted balls different in all likelihood.
