Disappearing Players?

I've noticed an issue with players disappearing on the shortlist and from the game. Sometimes when I have a shortlisted retired player, they will magically disappear from the list. So I go to the Player Search tab, and find that they have completely disappeared.

It's not a huge deal, just quite annoying, and I was just wondering if anyone else is having this issue. Seeing that this only happens after many years, I believe it is a storage type bug.

My apologies if I'm misunderstanding your question in my reply here Texasborn, but yes I find loads of retired players disappear from the game. If you go to a player's history page and he was involved in a trade many years ago, touch the name of another player involved in that trade, and if he's retired it probably brings up the screen of a completely different, much younger player. I had presumed it isn't a bug but just a storage thing like you say: a game-generated player takes the place of a retired player in the game's database rather than adding more and more players. It seems to be only Hall of Famers and some other prominent retired players don't disappear (or at least haven't 17-18 seasons into my dynasty game).

Yes I agree. If a player retires and he is not a HOF player then his stats will disappear and be replaced by a new player.

Disappearing Players?

Thanks for the input guys. Retired players do get there player profiles replaced by newer guys, and Hall of famers seem to be just fine. However, some prominent players do disappear witch sparked me to write this topic.

I believe it is very simple.

The players who remain in the database after retirement are players who have made the hall of fame OR are listed on the career league leaders.

Everyone else is replaced.
