pinch hitters

does this game hate pinch hitters? i can't get a guy to hit over .150 over 3.5 seasons and am now letting my pitchers hit since they sometimes hit .170 or .210

is it me? small sample? anyone else seeing this?

Is there a way in the game of seeing a guy's stats as a pinch hitter? I've thought similarly myself, but decided I've probably suffered from confirmation bias and with my impression in any case being skewed by tiny sample sizes.

Tango et al in The Book say that batters are demonstrably worse when playing as pinch hitters than as starters. So if what you're seeing is indeed a true reflection of what's actually happening in your game, it seems in principle to be realistic.

I think PH hitting less then starters has something behind it, after all it's hard to hit a modest .260 coming off the bench cold turkey. However, it should be higher then pitchers.

I try not to overthink stuff like pinch hitting average..., though other things in simulations bother me.( ex. Unrealistic base running and catcher throws and handling/framing skills. But these too I understand are hard to get right/accurate.)
