Nashville Blues (1887, Southern League AA)
Nashville Elite Giants (1930, Negro National League)

Not to be picky, which I am, the Volunteers name goes back to 1901 in the Southern Association.

Eugene is correct. Just listed the final years in my post above. However, here's the complete listing from the book...

Nashville Volunteers (aka Vols) Southern Association, 1901, (A), 1902-1934; (A1), 1935-1945: (AA), 1946-1961: charter franchise. Disbanded after 1961 season.

Think i will keep the name Vols/ Volunteers. i have a few 1930's uniforms and I'll just create some for them til then. Eventually I think I will move the team to Miami, New Orleans or Memphis.

A lot of MLB teams are named after birds (blue jays, cardinals, orioles)… What about the Nashville Warblers, as that species specifically is named for the city???? As long as you're OK with green and yellow as team colors...

I do like that name alot. Do you know if there are some good old school like logos for that. And yes I like green and yellow. I have a team called the parrots in my EBL league and they have some of my favorite uniforms.
