Question about rehab assignments
For the first time ever I am playing GM only. I usually just watch leagues as a fan or manage only. How important are rehab assignments? Am I doing something wrong or are they actually random in length. I have put one guy on rehab and it turned out to be 20 games. The next guy was 30. Just curious. Thanks.

It is dependent on the position they play.
Pitchers get a longer rehab assignment than a position player. Keep in mind they don't have to go the full length of that rehab assignment either. |

They knock the rust off of players, just like spring training. I normally only use them for guys who have been injured for a month or more, and even then it depends on the situation. Sometimes a rusty superstar is better than a fresh benchwarmer. And sometimes I want to stall a guy's return to the lineup to give a bench guy a chance to win his position.

More on what Cinnamon said. I had a player miss all of ST and the 1st 26 games of the regular season with a leg injury. I have him on a rehab assignment. I would like to give him 10-15 days at AAA but my team is struggling offensively and he was the NL ROTY last year so I will give him about 7 days at AAA. I also have a SP who had Tommy John surgery and wont be back til August timeframe. Well I want him for the playoffs so I will bring him back after very little to no rehab time and stick him in the pen. Now i play out most to all of my games so I can monitor his pitch count but i will also set a PC on him so he does not get re-injured.

So if I want to take a guy off rehab, do I just place him on the active roster. Wow guys, I have had OOTP since the Season Ticket days, but since about 7 or so, I haven't controlled transactions. I haven't a clue.

Yes, rehab guys will have a little red cross symbol next to them on the transactions screen. To place them back on the active roster, either drag them to the active roster on the transactions screen or choose place on active roster in the dropdown.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I actually thought that once the rehab was assigned you were obligated to keep the guy there for the full duration of the rehab.

As an aside David, since in real-life MLB, they don't count against roster limit (but they do in OOTP), I tend to set my AAA roster at 27 or 28 when I'm playing as a GM, but only keep 25 people there, so that I can use the rehab feature without having to drop a normal AAA guy.
