Historic MLB with fictional players

I already know how to set up a fictional MLB that will expand and change rules historically, but I'm wondering how I should handle minor leagues. If I were to go ahistorical and include a full minors system from the 1901 start, would that also expand automatically when expansion occurs in MLB? Or would I have to manually add teams to the minors as new MLB teams are added? What happens if I use feeder leagues? Will they automatically adjust and generate more players when the number of MLB teams increases?

I'm planning on simming from 1901 to 1990 with as little tweaking and manual adjustments as possible, while still ending up with something resembling MLB + minors in 1990. Has anyone else done this and have any advice?

I've done this, simming from 1901 to 1977 expansion, taking over Seattle upon expansion. Played with them until they became too strong, and then 1993 was upon us, and I took control of Florida.

I had RL, A, AA, AAA right from beginning. As the league expands, new MiL teams will be added, although with each expansion, I renamed/moved affiliates and just updated the MiL system to that era.
