Glad to see it doing so well! Hopefully this means we might see it on Android next year

Hello, all. Yesterday, I purchased the iPhone version after seeing it as a "Genius" recommendation (because I'd purchased other baseball titles). Frankly, I'd never heard of OOTP, but having played APBA, Strat, PTP, Full Count, and countless other board and computer sims in the past, I was thrilled to see a game that's not an arcade-y thing on the iPhone.

I've played a couple of "in-season" games thus far as the 2011 Angels, but I've been unable to find a way to play a quick game between any two teams of my choice rather than just the next game of my chosen team's season. I don't think I want to commit to a full season with just one team and I'd love to just play a few games between just a couple of good or interesting teams every so often. Is there a way to do this that is just not obvious to me?

Otherwise, the game looks great, the commentary is stylish, and I am amazed that the developers have so well captured the feel of the Grand Old Game after being raised outside the US. OOTP is a testimonial to baseball's global reach.

Unfortunately there is not a way in iOOTP. It is designed as you being the GM or coach.
What you are asking for is what we can commissioner mode or 'god' mode. You can do this with the full PC version of the game.

But iOOTP is just the core experience of taking over a team and controlling it yourself.

Actually, I'm a little surprised that there isn't an exhibition game option in iOOTP. I suggested this during the development stage of the game, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to have made it into the final release. It seems like this would be an ideal option for an app version of the game. I can't really see why it couldn't handle such a format, as the game engine would essentially be the same. Ultimately, I don't know whether this was a design decision or if it simply wasn't possible/practical to code. Either way, I will push for the exhibition game option in a future version.

But here's the good news...

It IS possible to play a simple exhibition game in the full version of OOTP.

All along, we've known there would be certain features/functions that are available in the desktop version that aren't available in the app version. And while I never would have guessed exhibition games would be unavailable in iOOTP, there were bound to be seemingly obvious features from OOTP that were left out of iOOTP, for one reason or another. But keep in mind that one of the primary objectives of releasing the app version is introducing people who were previously unfamiliar with the game to the PC/Mac version. So I'm happy to hear that this goal has been achieved in your case.

Now, you may not personally want to shell out more money for another game in this series just yet, but if you are a fan of the other baseball simulation titles that you mentioned in your post, I can just about GUARANTEE you that you would be thrilled with OOTP. My advice to you would be to strongly consider pre-ordering the upcoming OOTP 12, which should be out within the next month or two, as it will absolutely be the best version of OOTP ever. And in the meantime, you can get better acquainted with the fundamentals of the game with iOOTP, so you will not only be a master of the game by the time the new OOTP comes out, but also because you will be positively floored by the additional level of detail and functionality that the desktop version provides.

I have a few great ideas for exhibition games in iOOTP but that is something for 2012.

Db error

Will I be able to recover my league with the error with the update or is it gone?

We can not promise it but it is worth a shot. After you got the update look in "Load Game" and maybe it is there.
