If you assign a player to offensive training, then switch them to defensive training halfway thru the month, would that negate any of the offensive training?

The monthly training/development check only looks at the value that's currently in place, so any previous setting, even if it was just changed the day before, isn't used. So in this case, they'd get the defensive bonus, but not the offensive one.
