Haunted by the Ghost of Scot Flickinger

Every mid-October, for 21 years, I have been haunted by the ghost of Scot Flickinger. For some reason, I sit down with him and negotiate a contract extension. Again, and again, and again, and again.

He first visited me in 1901, the inaugural year of my league. He has come every year since then. And, strangest of all, he never winds up in my organization and he is PERPETUALLY 22 YEARS OLD!

I think he is the spirit of someone whom I mortally offended in a previous league . . . I am doomed to be haunted by him, forever!

That had to be a guy you low-balled/released, and now in death he likes to come in and win contract extension after contract extension. You've seen what the curse of a little billy goat can do, do you really want the wrath of a ghost?

Better to just keep your calendar clear mid-October.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I wonder if it's a new bug since the last patch. Didn't someone else recently say they were having trouble with a ghost player.

I wouldn't tell to many people. Electro-shock therapy and lobotomies were the general way of dealing with people who saw ghosts at that time.

Yes! Now I am looking forward to his "visits." He's like a team mascot.

Something definitely is "cross-wired," as you will see in my next post.

Except that when he leaves, after signing with me 40+ times, he's never under contract!

According to The Wolf, those treatments may mean an improvement for me.

Update

Here he is again, right on schedule. He appears every year on the first day of the Offseason and we apparently sit together for the entire day with me handing him contract extensions for him to sign, over beers (I hope).

I was wrong about one thing. He is aging. I forwarded to his "birthday" (Happy Birthday, Scot!) and he is one year older.

His history is strange, though. As you see from my OP, he first appeared onto me in 1901 (apparently as a 2-year-old) yet now it says he was in the 1921 draft and he did serve some time in the Philadelphia Athletics organization.

I like this guy. I'm not scared of him anymore!

Look on the bright side, there's no way to go but up.

It is with sadness that I announce the demise of my good friend Scot Flickinger. As you can see, his place throughout history has been taken by some other fellow and Scot can no longer be found. It's as if he never existed.

I mourn. He and I had some good times together.

I'm done with this thread. I go to grieve now.

Ok after much thought I think I have it figured out. He's a really really good bat boy. So good the team is worried about losing him. Hence the contract signing but him not being a player .
