Got him for 90K a few weeks ago, and he's easily been worth twice that.
Nabbed this guy for 73K a little while ago!

I am looking at 100 Dutch Leonard or 100 Sandy Koufax as a possible stopper. Both have been mentioned in this thread.

Can someone tell me how much of a boost to stuff Leonard gets as a reliever?

Obviously Koufax can get to 128, but I am a bit nervous about his MOV rating. Could anyone fill me in on his effectiveness as a short reliever? Do the strikeouts compensate for the HRs?

I'd like to know about Leonard as well (and Mathewson). Even better, does anyone know how the stuff boost is calculated? I have a rough idea, but I'm talking about a formula where I can figure it out precisely.

Leonard jumps to 126 Stuff as a reliever. He's been my closer the last 3 seasons and has been pretty fantastic.

BTW, does my signature show up right? I don't ever post, but am a long time lurker and PT player, firmly in the mini-whale camp and this thread has been really fun to follow.

No, it doesn't. I suspect that you need to remove the spaces next to the HTML image tags.

Blanton's stuff as a reliever is 105, and he's a great choice as a stopper.

I use 2 stoppers with no closer, Blanton is one and Mordecai Brown is the other, both have been great in that role. Blanton has been the reliever of the year each of the past 5 seasons, here's his stats.

Snagged 99 Keefe for just 165K two days ago. Seems like he could easily go for 200. Excited to see what he can do. No prior stats either, probably gonna have him for the rest of the game life.

Blanton looks very good. I like that he gives up very few home runs.

That's a really good deal. I paid 200K. I have used him in my rotation for four years now. He has one PotY award and a very consistent 2.71 FIP.

Congrats on your WS win, Orcin!

Blanton got his 6th consecutive reliever of the year award

I was leaning toward Blanton, but someone posted a Blyleven at 48K and I jumped on it. I am still thinking about Blanton to replace 96 Clemens.

Yep, I use Blyleven as a RP too, is a pretty steady arm in the bullpen.

Bit smaller price budget here, but the 100 Doc Gooden card I packed (seems to sell for about 80k) I've had for 7 full (8th season of perfect going on now for me, I've had him longer) seasons in perfect.

He's 98-77 with a 3.61 ERA in 240 starts. He's my best pitcher, but for those with (much) bigger budgets he's a fine solid backend starter.

Wow, the market for Perfect Matty has cratered over the last couple of weeks. His AAV is down to 95.5k.

I am going to bump this thread. There are a few more good pitchers available under $200K now, but many of the cards mentioned here are still showing up among the league leaders every week.

Gagne is still less expensive than the other top closers and still really good. He has 540 career IP in Perfect for me with 364 saves (93%), 18% inherited runners scored, and a 1.06 WHIP.

I also added Blanton and Blyleven to the bullpen and both have great. I have tried a few lefties and have just about decided that a lefty in the bullpen is not useful. What they gain vs. LHBs is not enough to offset their poor splits against RHBs - unless you have the luxury of someone like Grove or Rixey.

Thanks for bumping this. I picked up a perfect Gagne myself. He's been solid, although not as amazing as yours. 99 Clarkson and 100 Dutch Leonard are still mainstays for me, although now both in the bullpen. Dutch has been my go to closer, and even made his way back there after the 100 Eck that I packed didn't deliver the way I expected in that slot. He's picked up 2 Reliever of the Year awards and might get a third this year. I'm also still a huge fan of 98 Halladay and 97 Alexander, although neither have made it into the active roster for a couple seasons now.

Dolf Luque has been pleasantly useful for me out of the pen. Stuff bumps up to 110, and 89 movement is great. The control isn't the best, but serviceable. Affordable at around 55K.
