In the bottom of the second, Spencer delivered an RBI single to tie the game. Sundberg then grounded out to first, allowing Nelson to score from third to give the Rangers the lead. After three: Texas 2 Oakland 1. In the bottom of the fourth, a Sundberg single scored one. After six: Texas 3 Oakland 1. Jenkins led off the eighth by striking out Green for his 10th K of the game. But the very next batter, Fosse, hit a solo home run. With one out in the top of the eighth, Steve Foucault replaced Jenkins on the mound for the Rangers and struck out the next two batters to retire the side. In the top of the ninth, the Athletics had runners at first and second with two out. Johnson singled to right but Burroughs threw Jackson out at home trying to score from second to end the game.
