I attended a game there to watch the Traverse City Beach Bums play, maybe 3 years ago. My first impression upon reaching my seat was, 'wow, is this grass green'. As I settled into my seat I realized, 'actually, this isn't grass that I'm looking at'.
I was a little disappointed with that realization but enjoyed the game and was impressed at how interactive the players were with the fans. Most of these guys will never reach pro baseball but they were doing what they loved doing.

No, but the stadium will be WAY nicer. I've only been to McCoy (in Pawtucket) a couple of times, but I've never liked it... I hate that the grandstand is 10-12 feet above the playing field.
What I hope that Polar Park doesn't do is the same thing some other Red Sox affiliates have done...put in a "mini-Green Monster", or a small version of the Citgo sign, or anything else that makes it look like a little Fenway. Get your own identify! If I wanted to go to Fenway, I'd, well, go to Fenway.

Either sounds good to me. I do three 12's a week and can easily schedule myself off a few days to head up that way anytime so long as I have a couple weeks notice.
My Uncle Virgil used to be the Principal of Traverse City High School back in the 70's I think... While I know you meant Traverse City has all the amenities... I really heard Ty Cobb has all the amenities!!! There surely does seem to be a large Michigan following that play this game so things could get interesting... |

Ty Cobb has already invited me for a beer and a brat, so I'm in.

The team has filed trademarks for 3 names - Worcesters, Ruby Legs and Wicked Worms. They apparently aren't in favor of keeping the Red Sox name.
That makes sense, because with PDC's always changing, it means they'll spend less money on a rebrand should their MLB affiliate change. |
