MLB Uniforms

I'm hoping I posted this in the correct place. I've been doing a lot of reading lately in my downtime at work. For the first time in my life I'm considered essential to anything, and it's terrible hahaha but I digress...I've been reading up on the history of baseball and more specifically the history of the uniforms. I've been able to find some great books and websites with detailed illustrations from the 1870's onward and some that include the 1850's. I'm curious if anyone has any information on what teams and players wore before the Knickerbockers wore the first ever recorded uniform in 1851. Or if anyone has any websites etc. they'd like to share.

Thanks in advance

Heh, remember, "essential" means what can you do for us now, not necessarily in the future, so don't let it go to your head!

Regarding your question, I would assume the players would have looked much like this illustration from the Wikipedia article on the Elysian Fields (click for a closer view):

This is what I get for thinking a job in EMS would be a good idea hahahaha

And, thank you for the response, I've been slowly skimming through pictures and files for a few days now. It looks like the majority of illustrations and photographs were done closer to the 1850's and later. It actually looks like that illustration shows the the Knickerbockers in their uniforms from 1851. But, I can't really tell. I'll keep digging and see what else I can find.
