Bringing Expos Back!?!
Hey everyone. I am thinking about starting a 2012 MLB game and bringing the Expos back into the MLB. However, I'm not sure what the best way would be.
Do I just expand the league with two more teams? Contract two teams and then do an expansion draft with the two new cities? I won't relocate a current team though. Any ideas? |

My thought, since the Expos were a National league team and the Brewers used to be an American League team, is move the Brewers back to the AL to keep the NL at 16 teams including the Expos. Then your other expansion team would be in the AL.
I saw a post a few days ago laying out what the most likely expansion markets might be. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...elocation.html It might give you some ideas where to put your other team. In fact, I might try this myself.

It all depends what the second new team is. If i expand i usally move the Astros anyways since i like them in a western division and they dont really fit the NL West

I could do...
AL East: Baltimore, Boston, New York, Tampa, Toronto AL Central: Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, KC, Milwaukee, Minnesota AL West: Houston, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Texas NL East: Atlanta, Miami, Montreal, New York, Philly, Washington NL Central: Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, (new team) NL West: Arizona, Colorado, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco So I would put both of the new teams in the NL |

As an Astros fan, my biased opinion is that it would be a better idea would be to keep Astros in NL Central and put the new team in the AL West. Your second expansion team could be a team in the western part of the country.

In some of my league I have always expanded to Montreal and Las Vegas. Switched to 4, 4 team divisions. I keep Milwaukee in the NL and move Pittsburgh to AL. Put Montreal in NL North and LV in AL South. Otherwise I would contract Tampa and put them in Montreal.

I agree! The Astros/Colts have always been a NL team.

In the past, I have tried adding the Expos to the NL East and the Mexico City Aztecs with Colorado moving to the AL.
AL East - Baltimore, Boston, New York (A), Toronto AL Central - Chicago (A), Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota AL West - Colorado, Los Angeles (A), Oakland, Seattle AL South - Kansas City, Mexico City, Tampa Bay, Texas NL East - Montreal, New York (N), Philadelphia, Washington NL West - Arizona, Los Angeles (N), San Diego, San Francisco NL Central - Chicago (N), Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh NL South - Atlanta, Houston, Miami, St. Louis My problem with this is that I am not too fond of the situations with Kansas City and St. Louis both being in South divisions, but I guess that is something I will need to deal with. I suppose you could do Portland instead of Mexico City. AL East - Baltimore, Boston, New York (A), Toronto AL Central - Chicago (A), Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota AL West - Los Angeles (A), Oakland, Portland, Seattle AL South - Colorado, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, Texas NL East - Montreal, New York (N), Philadelphia, Washington NL West - Arizona, Los Angeles (N), San Diego, San Francisco NL Central - Chicago (N), Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh NL South - Atlanta, Houston, Miami, St. Louis Whatever happens, when going to 32 teams and 4 divisions of 4 in each league, I find it more logical to move Colorado than either Milwaukee or Houston in most situations. However, I would prefer to move Milwaukee to the AL, but it just does not seem like a good idea.

I am doing the same thing after my season and I am looking at a few options. I obviously want to keep some rivalries together so St. Louis is staying Central with Cincinnati and Chicago. I want divisions to make sense, but I'm not calculating airline miles. South = South to me. Arizona will rack up frequent flyer miles, Kansas City as well if I put them in the West, but they've been there before. Here are some options I'm considering.
AL East: Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays AL Central: Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians AL South: Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays, Charlotte/New Orleans/Nashville/San Antonio/Kansas City Royals AL West: Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels, Portland/Kansas City Royals NL East: Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates NL Central: Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers NL South: Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Arizona Diamondbacks, Charlotte/New Orleans/Nashville/San Antonio NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants I am pretty sure I want Charlotte to be one of my expansion teams for whatever reasons, I may just take the Knights team name and their logos then rename the Knights in the game. Does anyone see a problem with that? I don't have great art skills to do my expansion teams' uniforms and logos. I want an expansion team in each league as I play with the Reds, I would like the changes I make to have an impact on games I play. I am going to make a copy of my saved game and do a trial expansion. This is the first time I've ever gone through the full season with no sim, and I realllly don't want to jack up my franchise. |

I use North vs Central
So: AL North - CHA, DET, MIN, TOR AL East - NYY, BOS, CLE, PIT AL West - OAK, ANA, SEA, KC AL South - LV, TEX, TB, BAL yeah I know they are too far spread out. NL North - CHC, MIL, MON, NYM NL East - PHI, CIN, STL, WAS not a big fan of STL in east. NL South - MIA, ATL, HOU, ARI NL West - LA, SD, SF, COL |

Wow so many options. I don't want to move Washington back. I want to start over with Montreal.

This is obviously just my personal opinion, and people are free to do whatever their heart desires in there own game(s), but If you put a new team back in Montreal I'd suggest not naming them the Expos. There are plenty of great names available to use for Montreal.
