Making the most of an opportunity.
So I'm down to the final 3 days of the season and the pennant is clinched, just resting players and getting ready for the playoffs...
I decide to give a start to my 4th string catcher who is only up as the 3rd catcher because my starter broke his finger. - First game: 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and a sac fly. Hmm should I let him start another game or finish the season batting 1.000? - Next game: 3 for 3 Ok well, now I have to let him start the final game of the season. - Final game: 4 for 4 2 R and 2 RBI. His final line on the season:

Lol how often is someone's OBP almost 100 points lower than their AVG? I'll bet hardly ever :P

with only 12 pa, it's nothing crazy. just like his bloated average, lol.
what are the ratings? not visible? based on stats he's nothing great and will regress. 2 xbh, so he's a singles machine... that many years at AAA? no way he'd slip by that long even with stats only.. i'd hope...especially, if it's a player in your own system. if he is better than what you go, sure... i'd trust the ratings... if they bloat due to this short-sample, i'd investigate a trade before he bottoms out. (probably not relevant for this context, his ratings aren't changing from 12 PA due to AI eval settings) i've had terrible catchers amass trade value from 3 limited years on my bench before arbitration years, then traded that jobber for something useful. it was apparent except for his overall ai eval amended values. took advantage of some AI gm that doesn't understand small samples are meaningless. normalyl i just release that kind of player. but, this guy hit for ~.300 in his limited 100-150ab per year. he was overall upper 60's, which was just nonsense. went on to a horrible career, lol. Try trading him in the off-season to see if you can rip-off the AI. Not saying, you have to follow through and make the trade.
