Spring training on Primary Lineup?
I made some big name acquisitions in an offseason for the Royals and when I went to the primary lineup on the home page, there were AA and AAA players on it. Does the AI start setting the lineup for spring training in the offseason and when spring training arrives? I can hardly see Donnie Dewees replacing Alex Gordon in LF.

is he dfa'd? do you control the depth charts etc? if you want to know what ai thinks, go check coaches sample lineup/depth chart in his profile... if you are coach, can ask bench coach to setup lineups etc.
asking ai to setup complete org will show you what it thinks too. you can force start if it's your team? but, i wouldn't worry on day 1 of ST if a guy isn't starting... i would be concerned if not getting AB to knock rust off. the decision of whether he is replaced or not certainly isn't overly strongly related to day one of ST depth chart. it will be made as always given the variable. is the guy's ratings degrading? is the replacement decent? what are the sliders for GMand coach preferences? there's a process it runs through when you add a play to a roster. it will domino to other decisions that that insertion forces. opening day, for example is a bit different. every team will re-do entire system on that date. this is the same loop of logic as clicking "ask ai to setup complete organiztion" (maybe bad example if it only concerned with 40-man stuff... my mil leagues all start 1 day after opening day, that could cause it to be doing more on that day? but, close enough.) you can compare the difference to see. add a player on opening day vs anytime else far away from a day that the entire org is redone automatically. e.g. opening day, ST day 1, offseason day 1, fa day 1... maybe every scouting report? these are all hardcoded points where entire organizational depth chart is re-assessed with up-to-date info causing the changes. if oyu add a player onthis date, it's already done this function. click 'setup complete org' and very little will change, if at all. maybe some ramifcations of domino affect at most. add a player to a team on a different date, then ask ai to setup complete org and it will adjust far more things. so, adding a player doesn't run through complete org setup, just what is neccessary relative to inserting that one player. if you control any of this stuff, then of course it won't automatically be done for your team, but it is occuring on all the others at that time. simply do as you wish with dpeth chart. Your 40 man roster automatically gets invited to spring training on start of spring training rosters.
Impossible to make that stop happening. Extremely annoying I like to control all my invitees. Plus if I'm trying to learn a position from a MLB player I might invite no one else at his position band force start him. To get him those innings. |

I so agree I want to control that as well and prevent rule 5 picks too soon and not using up my options |

Also if it's automatically going to call up your entire 40 man it better automatically put them back where you had them.
I have to spend 30 minutes every end of spring training remembering which minor league I had all these protected guys in. Have all my minors setup perfect. And it auto adds everyone. I can do it myself. Like I do everything else. Spring training itself doesn't use any options. But just being on the 40 man and starting in the minors does use an option year. Once spring training starts you can also invite any player in your system without needing to add them to 40man as they are just invitees. Usually previous year high draft picks irl. I also do that often just invite people who I know are 3 years away from the show just to see what they do. What I don't need is my 33 year old AAA catcher to be put on my spring roster automatically. I already know what he can do I don't need to witness it anymore. Some 40 man spots are just always going to be those AAAA players who are their if your injury wrecked and don't want to waste putting a prospect on 40 man and starting his option clock by calling him to the show. But again I certainly don't need to see my AAAA players in spring training. So don't bring them automatically. |
