Unaffiliated Minor League Teams

Perhaps this question has already been answered, but I'm afraid that I've lacked time to read every post on OOTP 17.

Until quite recently, minor leagues often included both MLB-affiliated and unaffiliated clubs. How will the game handle the unaffiliated ones? In OOTP 16, an unaffiliated minor absorbs free agents and never lets them go. I trust that the same won't happen in OOTP 17.

I do hate how unaffiliated minor league teams signed major league all-star talent. How can they do so with no money? Why would a super star want to go there?

This is undoubtedly an area that needs improvement. But it would seem tied to the financial engine, and that isn't likely to be modified in any substantive way for awhile yet. (Though IMO it could stand to benefit from such modification.)

This is also an issue w/r/t to international leagues. Guys who have made tens of millions in their career opting at age 37 to go play for $50,000 in Italy.

Or for that matter, guys turning down an minor-league contract with a MLB org so that he can sign with the Sugarland Skeeters...

If they turn you down you can offer a signing bonus. A minor league contract isn't that much more than a top level indy league contract. The difference is the signing bonus and opportunity to get to the show. Atlantic league pays up to $3000 a month while AAA pays up to around $2700.
