Injured Player Out for Season Picked Up by Another Team

In OOTP 19, I played an historic replay of the Boston Red Sox 1967 season. In real life, in August of that year, a key Red Sox player, Tony Conigliaro was hit in the head by a pitch and out for the rest of the season. In my OOTP replay, he also was lost at that point for the Red Sox and disappeared off their roster. So far, excellent. But I then immediately checked to see whether his stats for the replay were still available as he was leading the replay in home runs at the time of his injury. When I did that, I discovered that he had been picked up by the Orioles and was now going to be playing for them. Obviously, that changes the historical simulation quite a bit and I'm wondering (a) whether in an historic replay, that same situation would occur for other players who are injured and out for the season, and (b) whether this type of quirk has been corrected in OOTP XX?
