Realistic Fictional Players

I have few more "rookie" questions for the forum.
If I am building a fictional league in a historical setting, for example continuing the American Association, will my teams have a mix of fictional players and real players?
Is there anyway to find and recruit minor leaguers? By this I mean players that have never made it to the Majors.
Finally...how do I make fictional characters more realistic? My 1898 team has Hispanic named players and African-American players. This is not likely in 1898. I not being racist, just looking for realism. If I was creating a "Negro League," I would want African-American faces not Caucasian.

If you are ok with adding and renaming files, Questdog's name template will help you. It is in the mods forum below. Even if you choose not to segregate (i personally do not, but it is possible with his mod), he has an 1870s name grouping that will give you, in combo with setting the nations as us, canada england only, a league that fits us demographics at the time,
