If it were to be this(Microleague re-creation) that would be a massive disappointment. That game(Microleague) is 30 years old. In no way should OOTP resemble a game that is 30 years old. I'm hoping for steps forward, not leaps backwards.

By the way, I'm older than you are. Not by much but I am. I used to own and play the game when I was a child, just like yourself. But unlike you I remember what playing that game was like. The gameplay was slow, and it took forever to complete just one game. There were only a select number of teams, and only a handful of ballparks. It was okay for it's time, but it's time has long since passed. We should not revisit games that are nothing more than relics of the past. By the way, I'd like for someone to explain why OOTP has gone the route of incorporating graphics into gameplay. Anyone who is a baseball fan can easily imagine the action that's taking place on the field. Every fan has caught games on the radio. How different is listening to a radio call of a game to that of reading the text play by play in OOTP? It's different, but not that much. So if we're able to imagine what transpires during the course of a game, why do we need 3D? |

I suppose OOTP has incorporated graphics because it sells. |

As for your bit about listening to games on the radio; let's address that. Most people who are fans of the game of baseball will at times listen to games on the radio due to being unable to watch the t.v. feed. In those cases, it's not difficult to imagine the action of the game. You know what balls and strikes look like, you know what singles, doubles and home runs look like. Fans don't need to watch the t.v. to understand what's transpiring during the course of the game. So the 3D portion of the game shouldn't be a focus of the development team. Especially so if the intent is to make the game look like a game that has aged 30 years. If the game is going to have graphics, the graphic portion of the game should be held to a modern day standard. I'm sorry, but those of you who wish to have Microleague graphics incorporated into the game are a minority of the consumers of the game. I can assure you that there's quite a bit more consumers that don't want shabby graphics as opposed to those that do. |

You guys can discuss this if you want, but we have no intention of making OOTP look like Microleague or any other 30 year old game, so it's kind of a moot point. Good for a theoretical discussion I guess, but that's about it
We did add graphics and we'll keep improving the graphics over time, but I think it's safe to say that Microleague style graphics are not the direction we want to go in. We'll be aiming for more modern standards It's unlikely we'll be able to make it look like MLB: The Show anytime terribly soon, but that would be more the eventual goal.

Microleague was awesome, for it's time! Loved that game and then I got into sims like Diamond Mind Baseball and said who needed graphics. Then when OOTP came out with 3D I was thinking, lame! However when I used it I was like, Game! Oh heck yeah as I think it actually enhances the imagination process, I love it. So for those who were worried when Airdrop showed the Microleague screenshot, do you not recognize "tongue in cheek"? lol seriously get that broomstick out

Apparently, there is zero confidence in the product this year, thus, no screen shots.
