When I did a search just now I was surprised that no one had done a file for McKay as his name often came up in the old days whenever talk ran to the White Hope era. Then I noticed that I had submitted one way back in 2004, likely for version 2.0(?).
McKay was a tall, lean guy with an 82" reach who picked up boxing late in life (28) and never really learned to defend himself. So he just waded in swinging, hoping to connect with a haymaker like he did when he was breaking up tavern brawls working for the Winnipeg Constabulary. He could take a crack on the mush, but took too many in his short career under the not-so-watchful eye of Dan McKettrick, his second manager. The story goes that in 1915 he joined the Winnipeg Rifles and ended up getting killed in France. Cap
