I've figured out how to do that, but what's up with the color coded outfield walls? Also do we just leave the "tribune height" as is?

The color of the outfield walls are for the type of material. I Jorim's video will explain it, but ultimately it controls the bounce off the wall.

I've gotten the image issue solved... sort of some of my images got resized/duplicated upon fixing (long-story short, I created them by snipping in gimp, the resulting jpg were "progressive jpg" and couldn't be handled by the game, just had to resave them in paint.

silvam14, I can't seem to find your infields in the 3D Warehouse - do you have a direct link for it?

Hey silvam!

Any advice on making fictional stadiums? Since you seem to have done (almost) all of the historical stadiums, I'd like to attempt to make one.

Not really except use your imagination. I am going to just use profiles from various stadiums using Clems site and just mix and match to get a variety of grandstands/bleachers. The ones I made were just conjured in my head or some even right when I was desinging in sketch up.

I take it you should put infield in first and work from there, right?

Yes, but put a square or rectangle down first instead of the diagram

So that means that I should put a rectangle down and then the infield over that?

Put a rectangle down first. Just like you would be working on a diagram. Then just build on that. Yes

I hope you don't mind me asking, but could you please illustrate that? It's hard to picture in my head.

Just like when you imported the image of the ballpark diagram for Jarry park. Instead. Use the square took, start from the origin and make a big enough square to build your park in. Does that explain better

the programs will export the park in the format that OOTP needs to read.

Next: Go into ootp, create a bogus fictional leage and then go into one ot the teams and settings and edit the ballpark. Go to the 3D edtor and load the .obj file. It should show up looking very nice. Although I have never had a park where I nailed all of the faces the first time.

Inspect the park from different angles to see if there is any black areas showing up where they shouldn't be. If so, you need to go back to sketchup and add a texture to the reverse side and so on.

Then you re-export and import into OOTP and rinse and repeat.

Finally, you have to align the grid to the field, and then align the fence posts, change the stadium name, edit the fence distances, heights, etc.

I also try to help the people who don't use 3D by taking screens of the parks in sketchup and exporting the 2D images for the broadcast view and also for the diagram view.

I hope everyone has found this to be informative.

Please feel free to ask any follow-up questions and let me see some of your parks sometime if you try. I'm sure you will all learn better ways to do things than I am doing them.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have one question. When I open the park in OOTP, the grid is nowhere at the right place. I don't see how to go about moving that around in OOTP. Any suggestions?

Also, I took a baseball layout and just made walls for it to play around and get use to the tools. I painted the walls(both sides) with a medal texture, but in the game, the walls look like a bad TV channel (back before cable). Not sure what I did wrong there.

Again, thanks for your help!

I'm glad you are taking a shot at this.

To align the grid. It's very easy. You click and hold on home plate and press the 1 key. You should see a red dot on home. If not click in the area and keep pressing one until you see one. Then click and hold on the backside of first on the foul line and press 2 there should be a green dot. Then do the same for third base and press 3. There should be. A yellow dot.

Now simply press 4 and the grid should align for the most part. You may need to re adjust the dots until you are happy with the alignment.

Not sure about the texture though. I would have to look at it

That worked, except that the grid is way larger than my field. Maybe I messed up with scaling the field in SketchUp? I though I had it right at least. Here is a pic of what it looks like in ootp currently:

Also, see what I mean about the walls? I just painted them with a medal material from inside of SketchUp.

Thanks again!
