Did either of you have a crash at some earlier point in the game and/or use the "save game as..." option to rename the save? Still searching for the cause but the possibilities are getting narrower.

Gotcha,
I just download' the update. I may start a new league tonight, this time from July and see if I can do what the real Bruins couldn't. Thanks for your work on this. Let me know if you need anymore data from me. |

Good morning, Jeff. My message issues happened after I shopped a player and then deleted some messages. Before that, the messaging seemed to be working fine.

My messages remain blank after closing /opening the league. New messages are fine. This is important because messages are used for Jersey number changes, trade offers, etc

Jeff just sent you an email with a save of this problem. I just did a fresh install and it happens after I save and quit and return to the game. All messages are blank. Also sent you a pic of a strange graphical error I get when I start a new game.

Alright, thanks to everyone who's sent files so far. What we're going to try is adding a special test build tomorrow just for people that have this problem, to see if that'll confirm one possibility about what's going wrong. It'll only be on the Steam version of the game (it's a lot clumsier and more time-consuming to do a special build like this on eSellerate.) If you're having this problem, particularly if it's happening very reliably, please PM me and I'll send you the password for the test version once it's available. We may have a fix: it appears to be a problem exclusively with the eSellerate version, where some database drivers aren't being installed. If you're currently getting missing messages, please try unzipping the file I've attached below into your installation folder (the one with your .exe file, typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 5) so a folder named sqldrivers is created there with two files in it.
Once that's done, to check it: start a new game, then exit FHM, restart it, and re-load your game to see if you still have messages. That worked! Thanks. It even worked for an existing save. I did not have messages previously (as I haven't played it) but when I simulated a day to get news and closed it out then re-opened it the news was still there.

Jeff,
Everything seems to be working fine now, thank you. However, I did turn debugging off, but when I exit the game, I have been getting the trace file pop up. How do I turn that off? |

Should stop after you restart the game again. If it's still doing it, double-check that Enable Debug Trace is definitely off in Settings-Troubleshooting.

Deleting fhm_trace.txt from the \debug folder should stop it permanently. It won't create a new file after that (assuming you turned the debug option off), and the existing one will be gone.
