My heart goes out to the Cubs with joy!
THAT was a special win! I just got thru watching some of the reactions of the elderly Cub fans on MLB.com and it brought tears to my eyes. Some really awesome footage there. This win has to be one of the greatest titles in baseball history and sports. Not just for clinching after 108 years, but bridging the generations, killing the "curses" and easing the suffering of those long believing fans. EVERY year was "we'll get 'em next year!" From a Royals fan who used to sit and watch Harry Carey and Steve Stone call single and doubleheader games on WGN, I say Congratulations Cubs! You're title is a truly special feat!

This is a must read. Especially the bottom about "30 days."

Meh. I enjoyed the 108 year streak. I thought it was a special piece of baseball history.

Streaks are meant to always end at some point.
Most people are actually glad the streak has ended. Anyone that says otherwise is in the minority. Here's to waiting 'til next year...for the repeat. |

Us folks in Cleveland are hoping for a rematch. What a fun story that would be!

I hope we get it. That was as epic of a battle as it gets. Neither team deserved to win that series. I'm just glad my Cubs came out on top. I hope we do see a rematch. I think the Indians have a great chance of getting there again and winning. I'd love a shot at a full strength Indian squad. Your guys played with a lot of heart especially the pitching staff during the playoffs.

The point where I lost hope for Cleveland was late in, I think, Game 6. Lindor was batting with two outs and two on. Inexplicably, he let two pitches on the outside corner go by. The umpire had been calling that location a strike all night, and I'm puzzled as to why he didn't swing at the second on those pitches. Lindor is usually an aggressive and intelligent hitter, and when he went down swinging I thought all was lost. I'm not blaming Lindor for losing the series, but that is one point at which it was clear to me that our fortunes had turned.
