Playoff Seedings and Home Ice Advantage
I've been playing out the New York Rangers schedule following along day to day just like the real team. I made the playoffs with 96 points finishing first in my division and second in my conference. I'm facing the Columbus Blue Jackets in the opening round. They finished the season with 90 points and finished fifth in the conference. My question is why is my team having to play the opening two games away on Columbus' ice? My team finished higher and should have home ice advantage with the first two games. Is this a bug; or is the playoff system in the game just choosing randomly what team has home or away advantage? Doesn't seem to matter then where your team finishes as long as they make the top eight in the conference. I have yet to apply the newest patch, wanting to finish up my playoff series before doing so. I don't know if that would make a difference.

Definitely a bug since that scenario you described would be impossible IRL.
Also, you should definitely apply the latest patch, but your save game will become incompatible. |
