Out of these guys I got the obvious, Jeter, but that is it for me. I'm glad that Abreu is on here. The way he played the game was amazing. It's how I wish it was still played. Patience, Speed, Contact!
I am very surprised that Abreu never became a hitting coach or higher. My Hall Ballot: Jeter Helton Kent Yes I'm a small hall guy. So who else, off the newcomers list, does everyone want in? |

Jeter & and Andruw Jones are the only no-brainers for me.
I could maybe be persuaded to vote in Omar Vizquel. As a side note, anyone else have to remind yourself when judging these players that we are talking the real life versions & not the OOTP ones in your sims? Cause I was thinking Bobby Abreu was a no doubter then remembered that was in my sim, not real life.

Jeter will be the only inductee this year. If Jones had a ring or two I would say yes but he doesnt

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course. And I've made this argument before on this forum. But if a player was consider the best offensive player in his position 10 seasons and also won a Gold Glove or 2, he would be considered a shoe-in. Andruw Jones won 10 GG's and also hit 400+ HR's yet he didn't get 10% of the HOF votes. We act like defense is as important as offense, then don't reward it. In this 'new age" where we are supposed to appreciate the complete player, Druw should get more respect than he does IMO.

Jeter and Larry Walker. It's a travesty he's had to wait this long.

At some point you would think they would stop putting the PED group on the ballot.

Hey, if we want to remove drugs from HOF considerations, then let in all the guys who would have been a lot better except for recreational drugs.
Bernie Carbo and Dock Ellis for the HOF!!! |

Lifetime ERA+ of 187. Lifetime ERA OF 2.31 Lifetime SO:W ratio 3.99:1. Lifetime WHIP of 0.998, over 853 games. This value is BETTER than Mariano Rivera's. You, sir, need to learn just a little bit more about baseball. Last edited by dsvitak; 11-20-2019 at 11:52 PM. |

Jeter's a no-brainer, just because he had 3000 hits and was a Yankee, so you know he'll be first ballot.
Schilling...no matter what you think of his politics, if Mussina's in, he should be, too. Similar pitcher, but with better stats other than win percentage. Vizquel: Yeah, I'd put him in. Ozzie with a better bat, pretty much. Walker: He'll probably get in eventually, but by no means a lock. Kent: I'm thinking he'll wait a bit longer. Jones: Meh, I see him as a Harold Baines type who will have to wait ages, if he ever even does get in. Helton: See Jones. I like both those guys, but they just don't scream HOF to me. Mattingly/Murphy-esque Hall of Very Damned Good types. Personally, I'd put Fred McGriff in before all but Jeter and Schilling. Asinine that seven measly taters kept him out.

Jeter will probably be going in solo.
Schilling probably deserves it, but his politics will keep him out. Larry Walker also probably should be in, but voters will hold Coors Field against him. Marvin Miller gets in from the Veterans Committee. Hopefully, Ted Simmons will join him. My favorite player from my childhood. Unfortunately, Alex Cintron and Hee-seop Choi will keep Scott Rolen, my favorite player as an adult, from ever getting in. |
