Golden Age Radio XML(s)

Once we up and away with OOTP's new release, I'm hoping to put out a PbP mod or two. I'm not sure if people would prefer a mod that collects the basic work of several PbP artists or several mods, each based on one or two broadcasters.

I've got some (complete or mostly complete) games featuring:

Mel Allen
Red Barber
Jim Britt
Bob Prince / Jim Woods
Ken Coleman
Ernie Harwell
Harry Caray
Jack Buck
Earl Gillespie
Chuck Thompson
Ty Tyson
Bob Elson
France Laux
Jimmy Dudley
Gordon McLendon
Russ Hodges

and a few others...including more contemporary guys (for more contemporary mods)

In addition, I have (or have access to) most broadcaster bios/autobios that have been written to this point.

So, would people want a Mel Allen Mod? A Mel Allen-Red Barber Mod? A Golden Age Yankees Mod? A Liberty Radio Mod (McLendon, Lindsey Nelson, etc.)

I'd give body parts for these mods. The only thing that'd make it better would be to have Vin Scully in there too.

(hey, just noticed your location... I went to grad school at Purdue!)

This would be sweet. I hope these are pretty easy to do as I think it would be fun to put one together.

This would be incredible! Harwell for the Tigers, Caray for the Cubs, ad infinitum. I'll take one of each, please.

Prof,

I wish you would do a basic compilation of all the great announcers...at least for the first one...and then do a package or two with several announcers.

Just try to keep them from being too archaic.

Any call you use should be clear as to the meaning, if that is possible.

Looking forward to what you come up with.

I go back to the days of LBS and Gordon "The Old Scotchman" (not too sure if I got the nickname right?), Lindsey Nelson and I think Jerry Doggett.

On rainy days or off days they would recreate a classic game. I remember hearing the first allstar game, when Hubbell struck out six in a row....also a world series game where Hack Wilson? dropped a flyball and open the gates for the A's to score nine or ten runs to win the game...might have been one of the biggest comebacks in WS history.

I heard a regular season game where either the Red Sox or Indians were trialing 14-0 early and won 15-14.

I think I'm planning on expanding my PBP file to include a lot of people's mods.... hopefully since a lot of actions seem to come with about 20-50 text lines for each event, I can expand them to be about 100 for each with different lines that I put in myself or that other people make in mods... should give a lot of variety in pBp....

Don't forget "grab some bench".

I'm new to this game and I didn't realize it was possible to alter or vary the play by play. How difficult is that to do? Is it just like installing rosters that someone else has created?

I've played out about a whole season on the free 5version and have grown weary of the play by play and have found myself just wishing it would just report the facts. It would be cool to be able to add this variety when the new version comes out.

I've never done it either. But it would be very cool indeed.

I haven't done a thing with XML. Is it just a matter of ediiting the text files?

I plan on putting in the odd expletive that will show up once every thousand games..like when someone hits a big homerun the announcer goes...

"Holy [censored]......he hit that a tonne!"
