Love the game, but. . .
Waaaay too many diving/sliding catches by the outfielders.

And wild pitches, and human runners picked off. The amount of times a team has a runner picked off in each season is less than 5. Yet it happens every other game when you play the game. In general, it seems as if offense is totally down when you play the game too. I'd have to play all 162 to see if that were truly the case.

The game engine is the same whether you sim or play games out. This has been discussed ad nauseam. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Have to agree with the majority here -- very rare to see a WP or a pick-off (in historical sim, which is all I play).
But oh those dives & slides. . . . |

I don't know... have you watched MLB baseball lately? Seems to me like every third flyout is a great play. I don't think we're off in this regard.

I've sort of enjoyed it. Some of the diving catches have been suspenseful and totally caught me off guard. Had a game end with the opponent's CF making two game saving dives (one in the 8th and one in the 9th) only for the same guy to drop a game winning flyball that allowed my team to score a walk off run.

Wonky throws
In addition to too many sliding catches, the throws from infielders are like lollipops, and the throw to the pitcher running to cover first is bizarre. Stolen bases, the throw is normal to second and then the ball just pops straight up.
Foul balls do seem better, and I like the grey sky background on cloudy days. |

I quit trying to steal in this game long ago. Just doesn't work for me. AI seems to do fine stealing or at least much better than me. I can't remember the last time I picked anyone off at first base. Now my players get picked off frequently. I go into every game knowing I am at a disadvantage as far as the running game is concerned. Not ideal but just the way it is.

I'm kind of liking a lot of new dives or leaps or what I like to call stumbling catches. Does anyone know if a rob a HR at the fence catch can happen? What's new to me is where the outfielder leaps to try to steal a HR, but just misses it. Love that. But would love to see him rob a homer at the fence.
Also, super small sample size, but after playing and managing the 2024 Dodgers, playing every inning, I have yet to be picked off. The team has stolen 19 out of 21 bases. Usually if I see a pitcher with a bad or mediocre hold rating I'll steal in non-pitch by pitch mode. If it leads to an unattempted steal, I'll go to pitch by pitch mode and try to steal on a favorable count. Last edited by congokurtz; 03-16-2024 at 06:54 PM. |

I'm okay with the diving catches but the number of triples I'm seeing seems to be far too many?

The animation for diving/sliding catches definitely plays way too often. Most times the play-by-play doesn't indicate that it was anything more than an ordinary catch. It's one of the many issues with the 3d animation.
