OOTP Manual
Here's a link to the OOTP 8 manual/game guide:
Download the OOTP 8 manual here I'll post here any time I add more to the manual. There's also a link to download the manual in the help menu in the game. Opening the Manual from Inside the Game Once you download the manual, you can also make it so that you can open the manual from within the game. If you save the manual to the OOTP Baseball 8 folder, then the game will automatically open the manual when you select Manual from the Help menu in the game. The path to save the manual is: C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 8\ootpb8_manual.pdf (The manual must keep that exact file name, or this won't work.) You need the free Acrobat Reader software to open the manual. Download it from this site: http://www.adobe.com/ Just FYI, this year the Customization Guide has been lumped into the manual. Like last year, there are customization pieces that didn't make it into the release version. Just not enough time to write everything. At least several additions are already written and just need to be formatted and edited. The pieces that should be coming shortly include:

The manual was given a lot of attention. You have to remember that there is now in-game help as well, so that had to be taken care of as well as the manual.

If you hover over the thread title, you'll get a preview of the first few words and it will prevent you from being tricked by things like this.

Naw, it's just petty revenge for all of the "Can we see the manual early? Huh? Can we?? How about now?" threads.
Here's a bone though: The manual will be out tomorrow, so as soon as pre-orders start getting the game, non-pre-orders will be able to grab the manual. In answer to Qrusher's question, which I think was regarding the customization piece: I hope we'll be able to spend more time on it as well. We have some good data put together that just needs to be prettied up. Once the first version goes out, I will let you know what will be coming soon. How quickly we (read: I) can get to it largely depends on how smoothly the launch goes. Obviously, last year didn't afford a lot of time to work on that, since the launch didn't go very well... |
