Season ends in 3-way tie confusion. Help me understand.

Scenario:

3 teams in (P418) finish the season with a record of:
105-57

Team A: Has a better record vs Team B and Team C
Team B: Has a better record vs Team C

How it played out for each team:

Team A
Plays Team B and wins
Then plays Team C and loses
Then has to play Team B again and loses (and is out of the playoffs)

Team B
Plays Team A and loses
Plays Team A again and wins (is in the WC spot)

Team C
Plays Team A and wins (is in the playoffs and division crowned)

Messages during this 3 game playoff per team:

Team A:
Informed they clinched the division
Informed they clinched the WC
Informed they were eliminated (after the 2 messages above)

Team B:
Informed they were eliminated
Informed they clinched the WC

Team C:
Informed they clinched the WC
Informed they clinched the division.

All in all it was a very confusing ending. I understand the messaging is probably a bug but would like to hear how this is intended to work and what the process of elimination is.

I thought Team A after winning the first game (and having a better record vs the other teams) should have been guaranteed at least a WC but after 2 different messages of being informed they'd be in the playoffs they end up being eliminated.

If any additional info is needed just let me know. For the record, I am Team C so while it's nice to clinch the division...I'd like to know how/why?

Thanks.

Not sure how it is supposed to work either but I had the same thing happen to me a few seasons ago.

I went to bed after getting a message that I had clinched the division after winning the tie breaker.

Woke up to find I was a wild card (if I remember correctly, both runner ups qualified as wild card). And of course I lost the wild card game.

I believe I was like team A. Won the first game and lost the second two.

Obviously a bug that should be reported. No way Team A should play 3 games.

Three-Club Tie for Division Championship & One Wild Card Spot:
After Clubs have been assigned their A, B and C designations, Club A would host Club B. The winner of that game would then host Club C to determine the Division Champion. The loser of the game would be declared the Wild Card Club.

We run separate tiebreakers for division and WC. So basically there's a 3-way tie for the division, then a separate 2-way tie for the WC. By your accounts team A should have had the "bye" in the first set, so that may be something we need to double check.

Thanks, would appreciate it if you did. The current example is in league P418, NC West.

Any additional info needed just let me know.

Are you sure the B vs. A wasn't the wild card game? I don't know but just checking since it could easily be confused with a tie-breaker as it is just a 1-game opening round series. Not any real difference except for terminology between it and a 1-game tie-breaker play-in. After Team B won did they go to a best-of-3 or did they get one of TWO wild card spots?

Each game listed in the original post were additional games added to the schedule...there was no indicator that B vs A was a WC game that I know of. Messaging was so off that it made it hard to track.

In short, no way that I saw to be sure.

Alright. As far as I know, if you're talking about the calendar they do add all additional games. Could have been one of those why don't we just flip a coin? or it could have been the Wild Card game as my playoffs series were added to the end of my regular season results.
