I agree with your overall point that sale is worth well over 4K and close to 12K, but this statement is not entirely true. most live cards are only propped up by their quick sell value tied to the overall, and the ones at the top end of a tier have the speculation value of upgrading baked in.

Maybe next week if he keeps struggling and his ratings go down again he's a 10,000 card. It's the ratings that determine the price, not the overall. I'm not faulting OOTP at all. I enjoy this.
They shouldn’t believe he is a 4000, if so they are mistaken. There are plenty of diamond cards going for 10, 15, 20K and in some cases much higher. So ratings and demand still drive the price. Sale was a low end perfect, so Matt could be right about his drop..I think the dangerous purchases would be someone like Bellinger or Rendon who could easily drop back down. Should be interesting if they do drop whether or not they continue to go for a higher price than they used to or not. Personally I wouldn’t touch Rendon tight now and if I had him, I would try to sell him once and if not sold, quick sell him the moment his numbers normalize rather than miss the gains.

scherzer might get up there with a great start but it would all be speculation value not actual card quality

Injuries don't affect the ratings. Guys out injured just stay static.

The Future Legend cards are not Live, their ratings stay the same, just like the historical cards.

What ratings can be affected with the live updates?

I heard defense will remain untouched, but what about speed, stealing, baserunning, velocity, GB% etc..?

I wonder who else will fall from the 100 Perfect? I am a little nervous about Jose Ramirez. Indians not starting well as they were swept by the Royals.

Do we know how often and when the ratings will be updated? I had guessed it would be weekly. Not trying to do any involved arbitrage, but I will admit to holding onto some detritus cards in the high 50s and 60s in case they move up that little bit and I can get some extra PP for them.

My 5 upgraded Matt Chapmans, 15(!) Carlos Correas, and 7 Michael Confortos (among others) happily confirm this.

It's going to be harder to find arbitrage opportunities as the season goes on. Last week we saw those formerly at diamond still selling at diamond prices (e.g. Altuve) because that's what the last 7 day price said, meaning that's how they were listed. I think only players several weeks removed from a higher level, or those who have never been to a higher level, will present lucrative buying opportunities.

Freeman (expect it will take a few weeks) and Machado were my other diamond positions while Donaldson was a big gold play along with Acuna (also will take several weeks). golds are nice for easy small amounts since you can almost guarantee who will go up but the profit per card is usually limited since everyone has the same information and they start selling for close to 3K (except Conforto for some reason). one perfect upgrade is worth the same as a big handful golds.

It will have to be focused on players who have never dropped down a tier. That's why Conforto was such a great play, his average still had his previous selling price baked in.

I checked Altuve throughout the week and the lowest I ever saw was 3500. Then after a couple straight HR games he was right back to 4K since everyone knew he was getting back to diamond.
