Wondering how you are handling the contracted teams. Did you set up a fictional league?

I set up a historical league, then added a team, and moved all the teams into one division. I don't know for sure what I'm going to do with contracted teams. The issue is less the contracted teams and more the Chicago White Stockings who take 1872 and 1873 off and then return the following season. I haven't gone this in depth in creating my own league before. Am I missing an issue with just deleting a team?

Pretty nice so far, surprised either Boston or Philadelphia didn't win.

Big Changes in Baseball!
March 5, 1872
The 1872 annual meeting brought news of the new structure for the NABBP. The biggest change to note for all teams will be the use of the wrist in pitching is now legal. This could really shake up who's the top pitchers in the league today. The teams competing has also changed drastically. For those who don't know the Kekiongas folded due to many of the players leaving for Baltimore. These players have been accommodated as new this year will be the Canaries, located in Baltimore. Sadly, due to financial troubles the Forest Citys of Rockford will not be returning. In news that many expected, the White Stockings will be forced to miss the season as they work to repair their stadium and their city. The new teams this year don't stop in Maryland. Two new teams in Brooklyn join the league: the Eckfords and Atlantics. The capitol will also be gaining a team with the addition of the Nationals. Rounding out the field will be the new team from Middletown, Connecticut called the Mansfields. Expect more games this year, too, as many teams are slated to play upwards of 50 games in hopes of the title. The season will start April 18th this year with the the Canaries @ Olympics. |

Sorry
I was hoping to get some of the season in but just when I thought I was done I made the mistake of just using the importable schedule which switched the Washington team schedules and Brooklyn team schedules and my last save that's not already on opening day is before all the manual offseason changes I have to do I should get to 1872 by Friday but I wouldn't expect anything Thursday.

Two Teams Too Many
May 25th, 1872
The Olympics have folded in their second season in the National Assocation. The team was having difficulties financially despite their 6-3 record. The team finishes with a career record of 22-19. John Glenn will finish as the top batter to play for the Olympics with 54 hits and 32 RBIs. Asa Brainard started all but two games from the mound for the Olympics. He'll finish his career with the Olympics 18-17 with a 3.22 ERA. |

Shocker at the Top of the Standings
June 1st, 1872
If you told anyone on the Red Stockings or Athletics neither of the team would be in the top 5 of the standings a month and a half in they would laugh. That's exactly what has happened as the Athletics are yet to even win a game. Tom York of the Canaries is hitter of the month with a 20 game hit streak ending, that dated back all the way to last season. York also led the league in triples over the month. Cy Bentley earned pitcher of the month leading the Mansfields to a 6-0 record with a 1.67 ERA in 6 complete games. Last edited by msc123123; 01-11-2014 at 01:55 PM. |

Another One Bites the Dust in Washington
June 27th, 1872
The Nationals will be the second team from Washington to fold this season. There was too much unrest in the Nationals dugout after a 2-9 season start. Paul Hines was the lone bright spot on the team with a .407 batting average. Last edited by msc123123; 01-11-2014 at 02:54 PM. |

A Crazy Month
August 1st, 1872
On July 23rd, the Haymakers dropped out of the NABBP citing financial issues. This led to an emergency meeting July 26th meeting where the remaining teams decided to add games to the schedule to make up for the lost teams. This was done despite Forest City and Mansfield being adamantly against this citing extra travel costs and little profit. Batter of the Month Charlie Sweasy helped the Forest Citys with a .416 batting average and a 12 RBIs. Bentley once again won the Pitcher of the Month award going 4-0 with a 2.68 ERA. Now what?
August 20th, 1872
In a shocker this week the top two teams in the NABBP disbanded citing the high cost to finish the season. The Red Stockings are the team in the best position to capitalize as they are third in the standings right now. The Forest Citys will finish 34-17 as the most dominant team over the last two years. Much of this success is thanks to Al Pratt who's gone 30-14 with a 3.17 ERA. |

Two Months to Go
September 1st, 1872
With two months to go the question is whether the Red Stockings can pass the top two teams. Pitcher of the Month was Dick McBride of the Athletics going 7-2 as the Atheltics show some signs of life. Pike wins the Hitter of the Month award for the Canaries with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs this month. |

One More Month
October 1st, 1872
The Red Stockings have pulled with in 2 and 1/2 games after going 6-1 this past month. They will have to win out this month to win the championship. Much the their success is due to pitcher Al Spalding who went 6-0 with a 1.87 ERA while winning the Pitcher of the Month Award. The batter of the month was Cap Anson with a .390 batting average and 18 RBIs for the Athletics. Last edited by msc123123; 01-11-2014 at 05:32 PM. |

Season in Review
November 1st, 1872
The year ends with the Red Stockings falling one game short of passing the Forest Citys. The Batting Champion was Paul Hines with a .407 batting average and the ERA Pitching Champion was Brainard with a 2.81 ERA. With only 6 teams finishing the season, new teams should be expected for next season. |
