Random player retirement.

This occurred in an online league during the off season. On July 12, 20 year old Marco Rossi retired for seemingly no reason. He was under contract, not injured and not unhappy with the team. The only evidence of his retirement comes from the team's transaction log on July 12th but there is no other information in game detailing the event like a news message.

I'm not completely certain if this is a bug or if sometimes players just retire for whatever reason. I'm more incline to believe that it is a bug though because the 2020 draft log where he was selected 6th, is now missing that selection completely going from pick 5 to pick 7. It almost seems like he was just snapped from existence.

There are a couple of rare storylines that can retire a good prospect around that age, but they should be generating a news story - I'm wondering if they're doing that only for the league he's currently in, though. I'll do some checking and if that's it, see if there's a way we can make them visible to all the leagues the player is associated with.

Thank you for following up. We are discussing how to best handle this, and any future similar cases, in our league, and would be grateful if you could have a glance at our savefile.

As Travis mentions, there was no news item visible in the AHL or NHL, and Rossi's name has disappeared from the draft log. When editing him out of retirement, his name reappears in the draft log.

I will PM you the link to our latest savefile, thankful for any insight you can provide as to whether this was a "bug" or a legit retirement, just that we are missing the background (storyline) for it.
