Indianapolis Racers NHL Expansion

I bought FHM 5 on sale about a week ago and instead of doing what I always do and take over my Blue Jackets, decided to go big and take advantage of all the customization FHM allows. So expanded the NHL by 1 and added the Indianapolis Racers.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- (RTV6) - It was announced today that the NHL will be expanding to 32 teams. The newest team will play under the name, Indianapolis Racers And will be joining the league to start the 2018 season. Along with the Racers the Oklahoma City Barons will become their AHL affiliate. With the announcement of the NHL, the Indy Fuel (the current ECHL team in town) could not be reached for comment.

Fans may remember the Racers name, they were in the WHA from 1974-1978 and are best known for the first pro team Wayne Gretzky played for. They folded December 15, 1978 and the WHA & NHL merged on June 22, 1979. Indianapois has had different levels of hockey off and on since then the Ice (IHL & CHL, USHL) 1988–2004, Capitals 1939-1952, Checkers (CHL 1979–84) (IHL 1984–87). The Racers will play in the newly built Allison Transmission Arena.

Racers were way below salary cap floor. So traded a 6th and 7th round picks in 2019 Entry Draft for Cory Perry and Dave Bolland. Perry is signed through 2021 and Bolland is signed through this season. Both injury's are indefinite and neither are expected to play this season.

Racers off to a slow start in October, going 3-11-0. While allowing 59 gaols against and only 28 for. Looks like it's gonna be a long year. Bright side is Tristan Jarry has had a decent start to the year going 7-2 with a 3.81GAA.
