How should you use Ohtani in PT?

With there always being a DH, the pitcher spot obv doesn't bat.

So in order to get him AB's you have to put him in the DH spot, right? How does that mess with his stamina for starts?

Is it best to put my DH there, and set him to DH every couple games? Or put him as the DH, then set the back up DH to play whenever he is tired? Then it goes back to the messing with the stamina part?

My current DH was Cepedes, but also have Jesus Aguilar, Whit Merrifield... don't know which of the 4 to use as DH, and what settings to use?

I noticed he has a rest status for SP and a rest status for batting, but does using him as a batter mess with his rest for sp?

One of the teams in my league uses Ohtani in the rotation and at DH when he is not pitching. He always seems to be in the lineup against me when not pitching.

That just gave me more questions. So, if he is pitching, and he is listed as your DH, does he bat? If he gets pulled for a relief pitcher, does he stay in the game as the DH? If he isn't the DH after removal, who becomes the DH... the person listed as the #2 DH?

I need answers!

**EDIT** I just picked him up from the AH 2,648 - so I'm not entirely sure how the two way players work in PT...

I did this last season in a tough division (including Orcin here), with this result of 5.5 combined WAR. He was my #5 starter and my DH when not pitching/resting, batting between 3rd-6th depending on matchup/etc.

The rest and fatigue never seem to be an issue in my experience.

I have him as my #5 starter and DH. He has been very lackluster on the mound but he's been above average as a hitter. He's in the 3 hole when facing lefties and 6 hole when facing righties

The best use of Ohtani is to sell him and get a real player who can help you,

Yup, seems to be doing that at the DH spot:

DH Cespedes - 12 g, .178 1hr 4rbi
DH Ohtani - 3 g, .455 1hr 3rbi

Seems to fit pretty good with Freeman, Bryant, Canseco, Harper, Yelich, Carpenter, Story, and Contreras.

I forget who my #5 rotation guy was, but he was like 0-3, 6 era
Ohtani at least didn't lose his start for me, still 0-0

So, yeah, seems to be doing the trick there, but thanks for the advice.

I'm using Ohtani in the rotation and as my starting RF. Playing him in the field might require a bit more rest than DHing him, but he's started 4 games on the mound and 10 in the field through 21 games this season. Make sure you have a good backup outfielder if you're going to put him in the field.

(I don't do anything special rest-wise. I just have his backup set to "If Starter tired" and let the AI do it's thing)
