However, in a big game with an enormous crowd the noise might drown out the impact of the ball, then you're screwed, or at least I would be. Thankfully I never had that problem.
You might be right with that, and I know I would not be a good umpire, either, but ... you are trying to defend Angel Hernandez, and Angel Hernandez is indefensible.

Any word on whether he is on the World Series crew? How about as replay ump? THAT would be fun! 50,000 people see a crystal clear overturn case on the video board, and after 19 minutes of agony Amazing Angel sends back a "call stands".

My thing with the "he has a tough job" excuse is that he is trained, paid & has the experience to be able to do his tough job. AH is suing because he says he has been denied promotion & plum assignments due to his race and a grudge from Joe Torre. So his position is that he is good enough to do his job in these situations. So he doesn't get to use the "It's tough" excuse.

Perform, or shut up & stay home.

I'm just referring to these specific incidences. Like I said, listen to the first two. The noise hits a peak right as the ball arrives. I don't know what happened on the 3rd one. I would imagine this isn't much of a problem during the regular season.

I could do without that clown Puig's taunting and throat cutting gestures. And here is official notice that I am hoping Machado is not coming to New York.

Suddenly I have a strong interest in rooting for the Red Sox, much more than I had when they beat the Yankees (always root for the team that beat you so you don't look as bad, don't you know).

Worst punks in baseball right now, right there. When Puig killed the Brewers with that 3-piece, I almost vomited. I hate that ****er, always have, and always will.

Something that kills me is the fact that Puig has now started in more playoff games than any other Dodger in history.

This is due mostly to changes in playoff structure but still his name is in the history books.

Ugh. Doggers and Ded Sux. Not as bad as Wankees/Shlubs would have been, but still bad. I guess I'll root for Boston. At least they don't have Miss Puiggy. I really don't ever want to see that punk get a ring.

I guess I'll figure out who I'm rooting for when the games start. Can't really pick either one at the moment. Though I suspect I'll lean LA.

Hah, Miss Puiggy. Funny.

Also funny is our different take on this Series. I am looking forward to it much more than in recent years (when the Yankees have not been in it). In addition to what I said above about that motivation, there is also Bean Town versus Tinsel Town.

Fun fact: Ok, maybe everybody knows that the Red Sox and the Dodgers have never met in the Fall Classic. It seemed strange to me for some reason. (Yeah, yeah, I remember the "Curse of the Bambino" which explains a lot.)

However, the franchises did square off in 1916, when the Red Sox beat the Brooklyn Robins in five games. Babe Ruth was only 21 and still pitching in those days, hence he only got into one game (1-0 on the mound but 0 for 5 at the plate). On the other side of the diamond, though was a 25-year-old Casey Stengel who did well with the bat, .364, but had no runs batted in because his teammates had a hard time getting on base.

Heh, I cannot even imagine what a 25-year-old Casey Stengel looked like. I don't want to know! I prefer imagining Casey as he appeared when managing in his late sixties and early seventies, legging out a triple against Ruth.

Based on History and my personal perception of "the teams " in that context ...... I would cheer on the Dodgers BUT this years Dodgers with show-offs and bush league players and lack of hustle --- forces me to Cheer for Red Sox ...

World Series Predictions:

No clue who's gonna win or how long it'll take. But I am convinced of the following:

- Relief pitchers will toss more innings than starting pitchers.

- At least one conventional relief pitcher on each team will toss either at least 10 innings, or two innings per game (whatever is less).

- A starter will be yanked in the first inning after having had the audacity to throw ball one.

- There will be a game with no more than four runs scored that ends in regulation and still takes more than 3:45 to play.

- Either Yasiel Puig or Manny Machado will do something outrageous earning them wholesale condemnation, but not earn them actual punishment.

- Joe Buck will be terrific.

Now play ball!
