Speaking of the first Patch...when does that go into production? After complaints about bugs start filtering in, or do the creators anticipate problems/already know what's going to cause difficulties and start on it immediately?

Ironically, I think Markus looks to the first patch for opportunity to add or improve existing elements of the game; treating difficulties that may arise as an additional part of that vehicle, but not necessarily the driving force behind its concept. Granted, that's only my speculation. There are others more familar with Markus' developer methods. But my impression is that he thinks of enhancements first and adjustments as a likely partner in that process. The short answer, IMO, would be he probably already has some ideas about what he'd like to provide along with any initial necessities.

I will probably order after the release but before the first patch. I will probably give it a week or so, to see if there are any game stopping bugs.

As soon as I have the spare money I plan on ordering it. Which is technically never cause I should be using all my money on bills, but oh well.

Uhh...everyone gets to download it at once.

I think Marc or Markus said something about pre-orders being notified first of the game being up to download, but everyone will be able to download it on May 31st at some point.
