Well, the NLWC game got me all the way from breakfast to lunch to coffee. Good job!

At this point, I have ranked my postseason favorites top to bottom. Note: this is not about which team will win it all; it is the order in which I like the remaining teams from "they're okay" to indifference to "AAARRGGHH!":

Astros
Brewers
Athletics
Indians
Rockies
Red Sox
Braves
Dodgers
Yankees

Since we have a bunch of haters in this tread I will give you my least favorite teams in the post season.

1. Red Sox- I want my Yanks to eliminate them.
2. Cubs- on the NL side I am all good now. The Cubs are the NL version of the red sox.
3. Houston- they are the defending champs, so gotta root against them.

If my Yanks can't win it all, I am okay pretty much with any of the remaining teams not above winning it.

I'm rooting for my Astros to repeat, but I like this Brewers team too and hope the As win tonight. I want to hear Bob Uecker call a Brewers NL pennant!

Gotta admit, despite my feelings about Ryan Braun, I've still got a soft spot for the Brewers. My favorite team of all time was Harvey's Wallbangers. Cecil Cooper, Robin Yount, Pete Vukovich, Ben Ogilvie, Paul Molitor, Mike Caldwell, Jim Ganter, Ted Simmons, Gorman Thomas. I was soooooo sad and mad as a kid when they lost to the Cards in the WS.

Still rooting for Cleveland to finally get over the hump. At least one of the Four Corners of Evil teams is out. Thanks, Rockies! Too bad the Wankees, Ded Sux, and Doggers are all still in. Anybody but those is fine. Braves would be my second choice, since I have a friend who's been a fan since the early '80s.

Postseason managing makes me sicker every year. They have like eight relievers in the bullpen. No team uses more than three in a 5-game set. Instead the Indians with three Astros on and one down have no better idea than to completely gas Trevor Bauer, who also pitched *yesterday* in a hopeless loss. I was under the impression they might want him around to maybe start a game at some point...

And the sick thing is, it never works out. Oh, Reliever X is so amazing. Yeah, that usually holds up until Game 6 of the World Series, when they get shackled for four as they try to pitch two and two thirds for the sixth straight game.

This can't be the end to all pitching wisdom, can it? Please tell me it can't.

Managers are overly anxious about being 2nd guessed. Which baseball is unfortunately full of......2nd guessers. The broadcasts allow for too much talking, which is right up the alley of all the blowhards they put on TV. They pontificate on every minutia of every pitch as if they could actually manage a team to 50 wins. And just as unfortunate, the front offices are getting full of white collars that think managing a game is simple. Just carry the one and solve for x & voila! you have WS trophy.

So managers over think the game when they are in the playoffs.

Get them copies of OOTP, problem solved.

(all of this complaining by the guy with perhaps the spottiest track record in terms of success on the entire forum)

I'm starting a fund for Trevor Bauer to buy him a consolatory plush toy or something after the Astros will sweep over him into the NLCS. Why on earth does Francona leave him out to die? They have 700 relievers in the pen, Bauer is wilder than a wildebeest, and they can't get anybody up until the sacks are full in the seventh??

Francona deserves to be sent home after this one…

Meanwhile I am not one bit surprised that TBS put all Evil vs. Evil games into the evening, and all Indians-Astros games were burned off at lunchtime.

Leaving Bauer in was a head-scratcher, but the biggest managing goof I'm seeing this postseason is intentionally walking guys in non-leverage situations - and then those guys come around to score. Two of Houston's runs today were guys intentionally walked, although that didn't end up making a difference to the outcome. Yesterday the Dodgers IBB'ed Culberson in the SECOND INNING, and he comes around to score, and that run did end up making the difference. I know managers want to be seen to be doing everything humanly possible to win a postseason game, but sometimes less is more when it comes to baseball tactics.
