That's great! Now, just don't advance your game to the late 90's / early 00's and everything will be fine.

In almost every historical sim I've ever conducted, Teddy Ballgame reaches or exceeds 700 career homers. The only exceptions were the occasions that he suffered career ending injuries. Williams lost a lot of time IRL serving in WW2 & Korea, and there can be little doubt that if he had played those extra years and remained healthy he would've put up similar numbers.

Uh oh. Is there somehting I should know? I just advanced my imported historical 14 league to the year 2002 in 15. Should I be expecting a face-melting beam to come shooting out of my monitor, or something?

Thread should've been titled 'Tommy Henrich tops Mickey Mantle'...
Edit: Duh, Mantle is still active because the game is only in 1960. I'm dumb. Nevermind. Last edited by struggles_mightily; 05-06-2014 at 07:51 PM. |

No, you may just see some undeserving names high on the list.

I played Ted and Warren Spahn all the way through with no lost time off for military duty.

Thread should be Henrich tops Keller, that is a lot of HRs for The Clutch I didn't have Williams top 700 Hrs for me last go round, (he was 2nd to Ruth though) but IIRC he was battling Ty Cobb for the career batting title and runs...and he was atop the RBI and closing in on Speaker and his doubles title. But more importantly, with no WWII, the Yankee Williams (I Pulled the trade of Yogi Berra and Dimaggio for Williams that almost took place on a napkin) lost out and the Dimaggio brothers and Berra won 5 World Series titles in Boston in the 40's

As of 1999, I got Hank Aaron and Mark McGwire over both of them.
I love that Frank Howard is eighth. EDIT: I don't love that injuries forced Stan Musial out of the game at age 23 in 1944. He'd hit 54 HRs and had 572 in 435 games, hitting .359 lifetime, before the White Sox cut him loose.

Junior retired after his age 20 season. He fractured his elbow on 8/18/90 and never could come back from it. He did manage to power out 36 homers and slash .296/.368/.474 for his age 19 and 20 seasons. Bummer. he could have been a good one.
Here's the top 25 home run leaders after the end of the 2022 season. As a Tiger fan, I was hoping to see Miggy higher. |
