Author Farrell fails to mention what weight division the fighters are, so I listed them as Featherweights.

The Kid was handsome and young and unspoiled. He had everything: aggressiveness, poise, speed and deadly accuracy. The kid got to thinking he was fighting his own fights.

From the short story Thicker Than Water by Paul Gallico

Fought in the shadow of his older brother, who was killed in the war. He had a reputation for having no hart. He was a tall skinny boy with light brown hair and dark eyes and a pale, serious face. His long arms and smooth shoulders were deceptive because they packed an awful wallop any time he stayed on the ground long enough to get set. White is matched with Marino with an opportunity to redeem himself.

You better recheck your universe; I think my record is probably more like 0-9-1. As for my challenging for Carmen Barth's Maritime Belt after a few more fights, I think I can beat him blindfolded. Do you think Carmen will be willing to put on the blindfold?

A courageous aging fighter who is trying to hold off the ravages of time. A boxer who has had a decent career and is a ranked contender. The story discribes the 4th and 5th matches between Coburn and Machter.

The story fails to mention a weight class or 1st name for either Coburn or Machter. As a result I took the liberty of doing it myself.

Kid Roberts, the newly crowned HW Champ, Puts the title in moth balls while he travels with a circus for a year. The champ offers to fight one challenger each night for 3 rounds of boxing. If the individual recruited from the audience can put Roberts off his feet, he’ll be paid $5,000 in cash. The champ is obsessively pursued on the tour by the inimitable Joe "Bone Crusher" Kenney.
