Expansion Draft date (modern league)
Just curious what you guys think is the best time to do an expansion draft in a modern league?

Beginning of preseason, assuming an expansion by only two teams. Usually there are still a few decent free agents left for the expansion teams. It depends on how good you want the expansion teams to be in their first season, though. Unless you do some additional editing of their finances, expansion teams in OOTP always have a TON of money and budget room, so if you expand early in the offseason they will snap up a lot of the good free agents, in my experience.

well the last mlb expansion draft was back in 1997 when the rays and dbacks joined for the 1998 season. and their draft was november 18, 1997. so if you wanna go off something reality based, then thats a solid date there..

Yeah, I would do it during the offseason...right around the same time they had the expansion draft for both the Dbacks and Rays in 1997. That's the best time IMO for it.
