Boys, it's been good to know you.
I was scanning the new amateur draft pool when this name caught my eye. My first name is Bruce. "Posthumous" means "occurring or coming into existence after a person's death."
Oh, my, God. Are my things in order? Boys, it's been good to know you. If you don't see me post anymore, I guess you will know why. Good-bye. Good-bye. Good . . . [sob] Seriously, is this an actual last name in the new and improved name database? I took a look and sure enough, it's in there. Creepy, though. I'm freaked.

It was a name given to kids who were born after a fathers death, eventually the name stuck as a lastname, it's a rare last name in west Europe, few people have it

I know somebody with that last name. It's definitely real.
I thought I was the only one.

"At seven PM a main hatchway caved in
He said, "Fellas, it's been good to know ya." You weren't the only ones.

A guy named Dick Posthumus was Lt. Governor of Michigan several years ago. Ran for Governor, lost. The name probably had something to do with it.

Well Bruce, at least you won't have to the Steinbrenner heirs run the Yanks into the ground....
This thread just makes me want an Edmund Fitzgerald Porter. |

Well, I'm still here in case anybody cares!
Last night, I had some wine, lit some candles, put on some soft music and went to sleep. Fortunately, it was just sleep and not the Big Sleep! Woke fresh as a daisy this morning, and did not burn the house down with the candles. Say, I was thinking, though. Did one of you guys, or OOTPD, hack into my game somehow and plant this "Bruce Posthumus" as a death threat, a warning of some kind? Wolf, was it you because I don't play stats-only?!?

Hey, you . . . I'm glad I'm amusing everybody with my tale of terror, and you get the five or six thanks in post #2 for recalling Gordon Lightfoot!
(Which song was going around in my head when I wrote the thread title. Only, he sang "Fellas," instead of "Boys." If I had said "So long" instead of "Boys," it might have recalled a much older song.) So, here I am, having an end of life crisis, and you guys are humming "The Wreck of the Déjà Bru."

By the way, I have this guy shortlisted. I intend to "keep in touch" with him and see how he does.
One ominous note: I have the setting selected to "Delete [players] who never reach the Majors." If that happens, and someday I check on him and he is missing or is somebody else . . . Wow. Totally metaphysical, dude.

You need to get him on your team.
Think of him as your mini-me. Take care of him and give him food water and lots of sunlight. |

Your post makes me feel somehow inadequate.
