Overall Rating Weight?

I have a couple more questions that I searched for on the board and couldn't come across an answer on:

I have started the game as the Cubs and James Russell for instance is a half a star overall rating. I know that I remember seeing something that talked about how overall star ratings are given such as ratings/current stats/last year stats & 2 year ago's stats. What percentages does everybody use for this and how does it effect the game? If I have James Russell for instance who is normally a half a star, have a great year with an ERA in the low 2's and the stats are set to be 50% to 50% and he jumps to a 2 star, will the AI value him more in trades since he was having a great year? I am looking for some help in figuring out what is the best way to set this.

I did see on the same screen that I have the options to "Show Ratings > Max and Show Potential < Actual...what do these do? I have the Player Actual Ratings Scales and potential scale and other player ratings scales all set to 1-100 as I like this more than the 1-20.

You don't have AI Evaluation on, so no weighting exists. Just pure ratings.

So If I turn that on it takes stats into effect? And what about star wise for trades?

I don't know what you mean. Stars have little to do with trades.

I guess what im asking is since that is going to affect the "Overall Rating" of a player, due to his performance during the season, will that make the computer more likely to trade for them? For instance

If I set it at 50% ratings, 40% current stats, 5% previous year & 5% 2 years prior and if James Russell is a overall half-star and has a great season will that boost his overall stars up to 2 or 3? And if so will that make the computer look at him as a higher rated player which would make him more valuable in trades?

This is what it seems teams do in real life, they take a player who had a down year last year, and who may "rebound" and then sell them at the deadline for a few prospects.

I depends on how great the season actually is, how good his ratings actually are, the overall quality of players in your league and other things as well.

There's no way to answer your question definitively without knowing all the variables involved.

But yes, the game does take those great or poor seasons into account when calculating the overall ratings, so long as you have your evaluation set to account for performance. And yes, if the star ratings go up the cpu will generally see the player as more valuable unless he's overpaid, or too old or has some other negative traits.
