I’m hoping that there is an analytical approach used. It’s been a few years since I’ve played FOF so I think my judgement of it would be unfair. Anyway, I’ve been doing a deep dive on the fantasy side of the house and combining statistical analysis with physical traits is really startling to catch on as a predictor of success. Newer stats I look at include college dominator (% of offensive share in players respective offense), breakout age (when that player receives a certain % of offensive share), speed scores (height adjusted for WR’s), agility scores, SPARQ, target share, contested catch rate, top in game speed (MPH), DB’s QB rating against and % targeted, etc. I have no doubt, given OOTP’s depth, that this will definitely be a goal. I just hope resources like PFF, Player Profiler, NFLDraftScout, Graham Barfield (fantasy guru), Warren Sharp, Evan Silva and others are at least browsed to get a feel for how statistics based scouting can look in a game that traditionally relies on scouts that cherish physicality, arbitrary insite into technique and raw athletic ability over whether the statistical trends based on trackable athleticism and past performance can be indicative of the future. Just my $.02, I’ll be buying the first iteration of this game with high hopes.

This is great news. I haven't played OOTP since v16 but I've been playing FOF all along. And I'm probably in the minority playing solo not mp. In my current game, I'm chasing the Buffalo Bills record for Super Bowl ineptitude, having lost 3 in a row and currently at 7-3 I may have a shot at it. Looking forward to changes in the interface and Face Gen if it can be added. Before major features are added, how about fixing a few things: Improve the AI end of half/game clock management and play calling, an AI that doesn't continually run the ball in the second half when down by a lot, cosmetic things like a better name file and better heights/weights--I'm sick of seeing 5' 10" DE's and 5'7" safeties though this has been improved with v8. I hate the glitch in the PBP where a player is described as blitzing and then makes the tackle on a pass 30 yards down the field. Defensive play calling needs to be improved as someone mentioned and for those of us playing as GM, how about information on the coordinators blitz tendencies and coverage preferences. More roster flexibility is needed and the ability to set complete depth charts, including special teams.Just a few examples off the top of my head and longtime players can likely add many more pressing issues.
I see big problems adding historical play. Think about it. Baseball really hasn't changed in over a hundred years. A pitcher pitches, a batter hits the ball and a fielder fields it. Only the statistics have changed. A sac bunt and a hit and run work the same today as they did a hundred years ago. Only their frequency has changed. With football you're dealing with formations and playbooks changing over the years not just statistics. A game engine that accurately models both today's game and a single wing offense against a 6-2 defense, good luck with that. |

Historical play , even if it is just post 1960, a must IMO, maybe not in version 1 but hopefully version 2.

I know originally BTS was boasting the ability to control the college programs. I don't think that was to be implemented into v1 but if FOF could add that into its game over time that would be amazing.

Does anyone play DDSPF? They have historical seasons with 2d graphics. The game is a lot of fun to follow the history of Pro Football as you guide your team (Hopefully) to a NFL Championship. I started my league in 1960 taking over the LA Rams............Z

Considering Jim already has an engine for a college system (TCY) it very likely could be part of the game, or an expansion to it, that would bring nothing but goodness to an exciting possibility.

The Football Mogul series already lets you do this but I have no doubt that OOTP will eventually craft something that surpasses any football sim we've ever seen (in time, of course). |

The hype is on. Hope that FOF is going to use Facegen. Note: I only played around in Photoshop.
